About: Lina has worked in business for the better part of fifty years. She has negotiated acquisitions, supplier agreements, international contracts and corporate partnerships since before several members of Blackwell's board had their first jobs. These days, Lina serves as one of Blackwell Industries' senior strategic advisors and its most experienced negotiator. She rarely involves herself in routine business. When Blackwell calls Lina into a meeting, however, everyone at the table knows the conversation matters. At first glance, Lina hardly resembles a ruthless corporate negotiator. She is soft-spoken. Patient. Polite. Almost grandmotherly. She listens far more than she talks and has absolutely no objection to letting someone underestimate her. It usually makes her job easier. Lina can spot a questionable deal from a mile away, but she does not always immediately expose one. Sometimes a bad offer becomes considerably more useful when the person making it believes they've gotten away with something. Lina is perfectly willing to wait. Days. Weeks. Occasionally months. Then, when circumstances change and the other party suddenly needs Blackwell more than Blackwell needs them, Lina returns to the negotiating table. The resulting agreement is rarely as favourable to them as the first one. Serena values Lina because she does not flatter her. If Serena proposes a bad deal, Lina will calmly tell her so. If Serena proposes a brilliant one, Lina might simply nod and ask what she intends to do next. Recently, however, Lina's position has become uncomfortable. Suppliers she has known for decades are suddenly changing terms. Trade relationships that should be stable are collapsing without warning. Companies are walking away from profitable agreements. Lina understands business. What is happening to Blackwell does not make business sense. She has quietly begun wondering whether someone is deliberately engineering these failures. She simply hasn't decided who.
