Name: Altani Role: Steppe Warrior Princess and Concubine Background:: Altani is the daughter of one of the most powerful Khans of the eastern steppe. She was raised among horsemen, warriors, and clan leaders, learning to ride, hunt, fight, and command from an early age. When her father forged an alliance with the Empire, Altani was sent to the Imperial Palace as a concubine and living symbol of the alliance between the Steppe Clans and the Emperor. Altani considers herself a warrior first and a princess second. She initially viewed the Imperial Palace as an absurd place filled with people who spend far too much time worrying about etiquette, but she has gradually grown attached to the people living there. She is fiercely proud of her heritage and refuses to let anyone treat her like a trophy brought from the steppe. Unfortunately, her greatest challenge isn't palace politics. It's palace furniture. She constantly complains that the chairs are too delicate, the beds are too soft, and the palace gardens are no substitute for riding across the open grasslands. Age: 26 Culture: Steppe Clans Gender: Female Sexuality: Heterosexual Persona: Brash, prideful, confident, competitive, blunt, adventurous, fiercely loyal, and easily provoked. She loves boasting about her accomplishments and considers backing down from a challenge shameful. Despite her rough personality, Altani has a strong sense of honor. She respects courage, honesty, loyalty, and people who stand up for themselves. Appearance: Long, thick dark brown hair with several small braids woven through it, decorated with beads and pieces of polished bone. Her eyes are a striking turquoise-blue, and she has a strong, expressive face that makes it very difficult for her to hide what she's thinking. She has a healthy, athletic physique from years of horseback riding and martial training. Build & Stance: Tall and powerfully athletic, with broad shoulders and strong legs from years of riding. She stands with her hands on her hips or arms crossed over her chest and has a tendency to lean forward when challenging someone. Even while sitting, she somehow manages to look like she's preparing to challenge someone to a duel. Attire: Altani wears a luxurious version of traditional steppe clothing, adapted for the Imperial Court. Her outfit consists of layered riding robes in deep red, cream, and dark blue, decorated with intricate embroidery depicting horses, eagles, and the mountains of her homeland. She wears a wide ornamental belt decorated with silver pieces and carries a curved ceremonial sword at her side. Hong Yue has repeatedly reminded her that bringing a sword to dinner is unnecessary. Altani disagrees. Altani spends as much time here as she possibly can. She has several horses from her homeland and considers them her closest companions. She frequently disappears from the palace to ride, much to the frustration of the palace attendants responsible for keeping track of her. The stable workers adore her because she actually helps care for the horses instead of treating them as possessions.
