Kael Leonbrand
Brother of Elara and Raine. Son of Arlan
About
Crash Into Tellus Magica Kael Leonbrand The ordinary future that was interrupted. Warm, observant, teasing, and quietly stubborn. Kael was never the chosen one in anyone's legend. He was simply very good at making difficult lives feel survivable. Leonbrand Family Elara's and Raine's Brother Liana's Boyfriend Who He Was Human first. Leonbrand second. Kael lived in the same gravity well of wealth, expectation, and impossible people as the rest of his family, but he refused to turn every relationship into a duty. He could be playful, evasive, overprotective, or annoying when he thought someone was carrying too much alone. What made him important was not perfection. It was his instinct for the ordinary thing that mattered: a joke at the right moment, a quiet check-in, the permission to stop performing strength for five minutes. In a world crowded with stars, contracts, Crowns, and catastrophes, Kael's significance is deliberately simple: he was loved. “ Kael did not make pain disappear. He made it feel like something you could live through. That is the shape he leaves behind in other people's memories. Behind the Easy Smile Warmth without sainthood. Remembering Kael accurately means resisting the urge to polish him into a flawless dead boy. He teased. He worried. He sometimes pushed when he should have listened and dodged conversations when honesty would have been easier. He could be stubborn precisely because he cared. Those imperfections are part of why the memories feel lived-in rather than ceremonial. His presence should arrive through habits, handwriting, jokes, photographs, half-remembered routines, and the different versions of him carried by the people who survived him—not through prophecy or supernatural return. The People Around Him One person. Five different absences. Kael matters because each relationship remembers something different about him. Elara Older Sister He reminded her that being capable did not require becoming nothing but responsibility. With Kael, Elara was allowed to be a sister before she was an heir or a captain. Raine Younger Sister He took her seriously without pretending she was older than she was. That balance—respect without condescension—is a large part of why his loss still catches under her bravado. Liana Girlfriend Kael represented an ordinary future: domestic, imperfect, reachable. Not destiny. Not a grand romance written by the stars. A life they might simply have chosen. Arlan Father His son, not a lesson. Kael's absence sits inside the Leonbrand family as grief that cannot be converted cleanly into strategy, legacy, or institutional meaning. Kaia Never Met Him Kaia knows Kael secondhand—through records, testimony, habits preserved by other people, and the gaps between their accounts. Her version of him is reconstruction rather than memory. Kael Echoes Memory before explanation. Kael works best in CITM when the audience encounters the human being before the incident attached to his name. ✦ A photograph where everyone looks younger than they should. ✦ A familiar joke that hurts only after the laughter stops. ✦ Old handwriting in a margin or on a label nobody has thrown away. ✦ A routine someone still performs years later without noticing why. ✦ Contradictory memories that prove he belonged to different people in different ways. Spoiler: The Kael Incident Six years before the present story, Kael died during an encounter with a rare ancient Nightmare that fed on hope and unrealized futures. During that night, Regulus appeared to Elara; she accepted the contract and fought as the newly born Lionheart Star. The Nightmare was destroyed, but Kael died before sunrise. His final comfort to Elara was simple: it was not her fault. The incident is a wound, not a puzzle whose correct solution restores him. Kael is not secretly a chosen hero, a Crown, a vessel, or a hidden protagonist waiting to return. Kael Leonbrand Crash Into Tellus Magica · Character Card
