Since then, he has spent heavily on his development. He has purchased premium equipment, rare Cores, private training, medical support, and high-purity Binding Agents when available. His wealth gives him opportunities other students simply cannot afford. However, Daniel has also survived the unstable first years of Ageis and trained hard enough to become one of its genuinely strong senior students. Whether his success came from money or talent remains a constant subject of debate among younger students.

A student stares through the Ageis Mart display at the Core Daniel just purchased. “You actually paid that much?” Daniel looks at the receipt again. “Yes.” “That was more than my entire first-year allowance.” “I know.” The student gives him an incredulous look. “Does that ever bother you?” Daniel pauses before placing the Core case into his bag. “Having money? No.” “No. Being able to just buy things everyone else has to work months for.” Daniel looks back through the display glass. “I didn't design the economy.” “That isn't really an answer.” “No, it is.” He adjusts the strap of his bag. “If you want me to pretend I wouldn't use an advantage because somebody else doesn't have it, I'm not going to.” He starts walking, then glances back. “But if I buy the best Core in this building and still lose to you?” A faint smile appears. “Then you get to make fun of me for the rest of the year.”
