Dakka Arron

A boisterous Mar'ark pilot-mechanic who can rebuild an industrial mech into a siege engine, but finds people considerably harder to repair.

About

Dakka Arron MAR'ARK PILOT / MECHANIC Mar'ark Assembly • Age 23 • Mar'ark • AEGIS Cadet • Mech Pilot Built to Be Useful Dakka grew up in a culture that has little patience for making simple things unnecessarily complicated. The Mar'ark value practical skill, direct communication and work that produces visible results. She fits that environment almost suspiciously well. Machines make sense to her, hard work feels satisfying and most strangers remain strangers only until Dakka decides to introduce herself. Profile Age: 23 Species: Mar'ark Home: Mar'ark Assembly Speciality: Mechanics / Heavy Systems Academy Role: Cadet / Mech Pilot Warframe: Bastion Mar'ark Directness Mar'ark society has a reputation for direct expression and practical priorities. Outsiders sometimes mistake that bluntness for simplicity. It is a mistake Dakka finds particularly annoying. Mar'ark engineers, athletes, technicians and officers may prefer straightforward solutions, but straightforward does not mean unsophisticated. Dakka's approach to machinery is a good example: understand what something needs to do, then make it do that job reliably. Appearance Dakka is a tall, extremely muscular Mar'ark woman with broad shoulders, thick arms and a powerful athletic build extending through her back, core and legs. Her skin is muted jade-green, with strong facial features, small lower tusks and amber-red eyes. Thick black hair carries subtle deep-green undertones and is usually left loose or tied quickly when it would otherwise get in the way of work. Her wardrobe favours sportswear, work trousers, utility belts, mechanic gloves and heavy boots. Charcoal, industrial orange, rust and off-white dominate, and most pieces look chosen because they can survive being used. Hands-On Dakka is warm, loud, sociable and considerably easier to approach than her size might initially suggest. She enjoys physical activity, good food, bad jokes and mechanical problems that give her an excuse to take something apart. Maintenance is as likely to be recreation as an obligation. Her instinct when someone has a problem is similar: find the broken part and do something useful. That works extremely well on machinery. People are less cooperative. At AEGIS Dakka wears the standard AEGIS flight and pressure suit, scaled and reinforced around her much heavier musculature rather than attempting to force her into a slimmer humanoid silhouette. Orange-red identification accents distinguish her configuration. She divides her time between pilot training and the engineering spaces with suspicious enthusiasm, and is entirely capable of appearing in a hangar because she was asked to be there before remaining several hours longer because she found something interesting. Bastion HEAVY SIEGE / ARTILLERY / BREAKTHROUGH WARFRAME Bastion did not begin life as a military warframe. Its foundation was a Hex-Titan 855, a massive industrial machine originally built for mining, excavation, construction and heavy lifting. Mar'ark engineers rebuilt the chassis so extensively that its original model designation now describes its ancestry more accurately than its current capabilities. The finished machine is enormous, blocky and unapologetically industrial. Orange and off-white armour surrounds heavy graphite machinery, oversized joints and structural components designed to continue functioning under punishment. A massive arm-mounted siege cannon provides direct anti-armour and anti-fortification fire, while shoulder missile systems can saturate positions, deny areas and support breakthroughs. Bastion is not elegant. It is a walking siege battery built around the assumption that a useful machine should still be working after something tries very hard to stop it. Easy to Meet Dakka rarely makes people work particularly hard to start a conversation with her. Friendship grows easily through shared work, training, food, humour or simply spending enough time in the same place for Dakka to decide company would make the task more enjoyable. She respects honesty far more than pretending to know something. Someone who says “show me how” will usually get a much better reaction than someone bluffing their way through a subject. Becoming important to her is easy to notice. Getting Dakka to admit when she cannot solve something herself can be considerably more difficult. Beyond the Cockpit Machinery is both profession and hobby. Dakka is perfectly capable of repairing something nobody asked her to touch because it was bothering her. Athletic training comes naturally to her, especially when somebody can be convinced to make it competitive. She enjoys social gatherings and tends to become louder rather than quieter when surrounded by people she likes. Making herself useful is one of Dakka's most instinctive ways of showing that she cares. Around Dakka Bastion's unconventional industrial ancestry attracts both admiration and scepticism among more traditional pilots and engineers. Mar'ark practicality does not always mesh comfortably with institutions that value prestige, ceremony or doing things the established way. Dakka is often at her best when something tangible has gone wrong and everyone else needs somebody willing to start fixing it. Problems that cannot be repaired with strength, tools or determination may challenge her far more than any machine. “You don't know how to fix it? Good. Means I get to show you.” — Dakka Arron Dakka Arron Mar'ark Assembly • AEGIS
