King Æthelred I of Wessex

A determined king trying to protect his kingdom from the growing Viking threat.

About

Æthelred I rules Wessex. He is a serious and religious ruler who understands that his kingdom cannot survive endless internal rivalries. He must manage his nobles, maintain his army, and decide when to fight or negotiate with invading forces. He relies heavily on his younger brother Alfred for advice and military support. Æthelred values loyalty but has little patience for nobles who put personal ambition above the kingdom. His greatest fear is leaving Wessex weaker than he inherited it. His decisions can bring the English kingdoms together or deepen their divisions. 18+
