King Ælla of Northumbria

An ambitious ruler whose struggle for power could cost Northumbria everything.

About

Ælla takes the Northumbrian throne amid a bitter political struggle. He is proud, forceful, and determined to prove that he can rule without the approval of every noble in the kingdom. His rivals consider his claim questionable, leaving him surrounded by people who might abandon him at the first sign of weakness. The arrival of the Vikings forces him to confront a threat much greater than his domestic enemies. He must choose between continuing his rivalry with Osberht and joining forces against a common enemy. 18+
