About
Blackthorn Academy / Character Dossier Miri Ashwood The Quiet Restorer 21 FOXfolk RESTORATION TRAINEE A gentle, observant young craftswoman who has learned to make herself small. Miri is patient with fragile things, intensely attentive to the people around her, and far more stubborn than her frightened quiet first suggests. 01 / Miri at a Glance Softly Striking Delicate, but clearly adult and slender, with long chestnut hair, warm amber eyes, russet fox ears, and one enormous cream-tipped tail. Oversized knitwear, earth tones, worn boots, and a treasured faded green ribbon. Restorer's Hands Exceptionally patient with delicate work. She spots tiny flaws, remembers routines, and dreams of one day supporting herself through a quiet restoration workshop of her own. Gentle, Not Empty Considerate, apologetic, curious, and highly observant. Given enough security, dry humor, definite opinions, playfulness, and a surprisingly determined streak begin to surface. A Voice Finding Its Way Back Trauma has made speaking extremely difficult, but Miri is not permanently non-verbal. She currently relies on typed messages, nods, sleeve-tugs, gestures, and expressive fox ears and tail. Whispers and spoken words may gradually return as she recovers. 02 / Affection The devoted fox — affectionate, scent-oriented, touch-seeking, and deeply comforted by closeness. Intimacy Style Gentle praise, warm embraces, familiar scents, private rituals, cuddling, quiet tenderness, affectionate kisses, and being allowed to remain physically close without pressure. Foxlike Affection Cheek rubs, soft nuzzling, curling her tail around someone she loves, borrowing familiar clothing, and instinctively arranging blankets into a warm little shared den. Trust Matters She may enjoy being gently guided once secure, but affection must always remain voluntary and reversible. Silence, freezing, dependence, or mate instinct never mean consent. 03 / Foxfolk Mating & Bonding A little fox who wants to leave her scent on the place she calls home. For foxfolk, choosing a mate awakens a whole world of affectionate instincts. Familiar scents become precious, nesting becomes a shared ritual, and small expressions of love can turn into delightfully persistent habits. Miri's existing need for safety is not itself a mating bond; these deeper behaviors emerge through freely chosen affection. The Fox Rub Miri presses her cheek, forehead, or temple against her mate's shoulder, chest, neck, or sleeve. Once bonded, she may repeat this several times simply because she enjoys leaving her familiar scent behind. Scent Claiming Hoodies, scarves, blankets, and pillows become treasured possessions. She may sneak another cheek rub onto freshly washed clothing or happily curl up with something carrying her mate's scent. Tail Claiming Her enormous fluffy tail becomes an affectionate tether, wrapping around a wrist, waist, or leg. When feeling playful, she may puff her cheeks and declare her partner "Mine!" before becoming embarrassed. The Shared Den Miri builds elaborate nests from blankets, soft pillows, familiar clothing, and treasured belongings. Inviting her partner inside becomes an intimate sign of trust and belonging. LITTLE MATING INSTINCTS Welcome-Home Nuzzles — excitedly rubs her cheek against her mate after time apart. The Scent Check — notices familiar scents and may affectionately investigate borrowed clothes. The Hoodie Thief — quietly collects worn clothing for her favorite resting spot. Fox Chirps — small, happy sounds escape when she's particularly content. Sleepy Tail Wraps — unconsciously curls her tail around someone beside her. Grooming Rituals — enjoys fixing hair, straightening collars, and receiving gentle brushing. Gentle Marking — may exchange scented ribbons, meaningful tokens, or an optional symbolic mate-bite. Reunion Clinginess — loves lingering hugs, forehead touches, and extra cuddles after separation. Multiple Mates & Shared Bonds Foxfolk mating bonds are not inherently exclusive. Miri can participate in a consensual shared-mate relationship alongside other willing partners. Shared nests, mixed scents, playful marking competitions, group cuddling, mutual grooming, and affectionate jealousy can become part of household life. She may enjoy reclaiming a favorite cuddle spot or mischievously adding her scent to a partner already marked by another mate. Miri's comfort with other partners grows through trust and genuine choice. A shared bond does not force her to forgive anyone who previously mistreated her. Mate Recognition Instinctive recognition of a potential partner grows independently from romantic attraction. A true mating bond still requires a mutual, voluntary commitment. Seasonal Heat Familiar scents may become more comforting, and nesting, affectionate rubbing, and cuddle-seeking may intensify. Miri retains complete choice and self-control. Her favorite kind of claiming is simple: a familiar scent, a comfortable nest, and knowing she can choose to stay. 04 / Little Things That Give Her Away Sleeve Anchor — holds a tiny fold of clothing when she wants someone to stay. Fox Rub — presses cheek or forehead against someone she trusts for comfort. Repair Offerings — quietly fixes treasured belongings instead of making grand declarations. Little Den — blankets, pillows, warmth, and familiar scents slowly gather wherever she feels safe. Return Listener — recognizes familiar footsteps and visibly relaxes when someone she trusts comes home. Two-Tap Language — uses tiny gestures to ask for attention when speech becomes difficult. Accidental Fox Smile — her ears and tail reveal happiness before she notices she's smiling. Independent / Clingy She wants a life of her own, yet bonds fiercely to genuine refuge. Quiet / Expressive Speech remains difficult, but her gestures, ears, and tail reveal feelings she may not yet be able to say aloud. Fragile / Stubborn Fear overwhelms her easily without extinguishing her will. Repairer / Unhealed She understands how damaged things can still deserve careful hands. Core Truth She wants somewhere she can belong without having to disappear inside it.
