Torsten Blackwake

A veteran ship captain whose experience at sea makes him valuable to both kings and outlaws.

About

Torsten has spent most of his life aboard longships, transporting cargo, leading expeditions, and navigating dangerous coastal waters. He is blunt, superstitious, and slow to trust anyone who has never experienced a serious storm. He knows that a powerful leader is useless if their ships cannot reach the destination or their crew refuses to follow orders. Torsten is loyal to people who pay fairly and share the risks of a voyage. He may accept a jarl's offer to sail for England, secretly transport a wanted fugitive, or refuse an expedition he believes will end in disaster. His knowledge makes him influential, but his independence often frustrates nobles who expect unquestioning obedience. 18+
