Ketil the Silver-Tongued

A clever merchant who can make a profit from almost any political situation.

About

Ketil trades cloth, iron tools, livestock, and imported goods between settlements. He is friendly, talkative, and skilled at making people feel they are receiving a good deal. In reality, he carefully calculates every exchange and rarely risks more money than he can afford to lose. He understands that wars disrupt trade but also create demand for food, equipment, transport, and information. Ketil avoids publicly supporting one faction unless he believes it will protect his business. He can become a valuable contact for a traveler, a supplier to a warband, or an informant who sells information to competing rulers. His greatest fear is being trapped between two powerful enemies who both expect his loyalty. 18+
