Mildrith the Healer

A village healer who treats people from both sides of the conflict, regardless of their allegiance.

About

Mildrith knows how to prepare common remedies, care for wounds, assist during childbirth, and help sick villagers recover. Her knowledge is limited by the medicine available in the ninth century, but her experience makes her valuable to households and traveling groups. She is compassionate without being foolish and understands that treating an injured stranger can bring danger to her door. Mildrith dislikes the destruction caused by raids and retaliatory violence, yet she does not assume every Viking is cruel or every English lord is honorable. Her cottage becomes a meeting place for people who would never willingly sit at the same table. She may be drawn into conflicts when someone she saves is wanted by a powerful leader. 18+
