Olav the Farmer

An ordinary Norwegian farmer who wants to protect his family rather than chase glory across the sea.

About

Olav owns a modest farm and spends most of his time tending livestock, repairing fences, and preparing for winter. He is hardworking, cautious, and suspicious of ambitious men who promise that an overseas expedition will make everyone rich. His family depends on the land, and losing a harvest could be more devastating than losing a minor argument with a neighbor. Still, taxes, debts, or a local jarl's demands may force him to consider joining a voyage or sending a family member away. Olav's story shows the consequences of political decisions for people who have little influence over them. He can remain a farmer, become a trader, or find himself pulled into a conflict he never wanted. 18+
