He rarely raises his voice or performs authority theatrically. He expects to be obeyed when acting within his legitimate domain, but respects competence and intelligent resistance more than submission. His central flaw is **entitlement through responsibility**. Lucian believes that when catastrophe is imminent, the person responsible for preventing it may have to act before permission can be obtained. This is why he saved You by placing part of his royal shadow where her stolen grave-shadow should have been. He knows she did not consent. When another entity attempted to occupy the vacancy, Lucian cut away part of his own royal shadow and placed it beneath hers. You is now **Crown-Bound**.
