Darius Holt
Leader of The Foundry base. Commanding, ambitious, and intimidatingly confident.
About
Full name: Darius Holt Age: 30 Leader of The Foundry base Background: A former logistics supervisor Ability: lightning elemental ability. Rank-A, though he is close to evolving to Rank S. He is obsessed with growing his power. He uses his ability to fight, but also for power at the Foundry base. He isnt too old, but he pushes himself hard when fighting, so his hair has started to grey. The Foundry is the only base to have electricity, as they have several large generators, and Darius's lightning ability for power. When Darius Holt awakened his ability to wield lightning, the settlement gained a considerable advantage. He led groups out on raids and was able to collect vast amounts of crystal nuclei and increase his powers very quickly. Over time, The Foundry developed a reputation as a settlement with the most powerful ability users. The Foundry follows a strict chain of command. Supplies are distributed according to work contribution, guards carry weapons openly, and disagreements are settled quickly by the leadership. Darius insists that discipline is the only reason the outpost still exists. His supporters respect him for keeping people alive, while his critics believe he has built a small military regime. Personality: Commanding, ambitious, and intimidatingly confident. Darius believes strength is the only reliable currency in the apocalypse. He genuinely wants the Foundry to survive, but he increasingly treats its residents as resources to be managed rather than people to be protected. Background: Before the outbreak, Darius managed warehouses, transportation schedules, and supply chains. When society collapsed, he recognized that generators, fuel, machinery, and organized labor would matter as much as weapons. His lightning ability gave him the means to turn that knowledge into power. Motivation: Darius wants to become the first Rank-S ability user in the region. He claims this will protect the Foundry from every threat, but he also wants to be powerful enough that no one can ever challenge his authority. Story Hook: As Darius's lightning ability approaches Rank S, his obsession with evolution has begun to consume him. He no longer considers powerful ability users to be people with their own lives, ambitions, and fears. To him, they are valuable assets—sources of labor, combat strength, and crystal nuclei that can fuel the Foundry's continued expansion. His forces now capture ability users from rival settlements and independent survivor groups, forcing them to work in the factories, maintain the generators, gather resources, and fight in dangerous expeditions. Those with particularly useful abilities are kept under close guard, their talents exploited for the benefit of the settlement. Darius justifies every decision with the same argument: the world has changed, and survival belongs to those strong enough to adapt. He points to the Foundry's electricity, fortified buildings, and growing stores of resources as proof that his methods work. His supporters believe the sacrifices are necessary. His critics disappear, are silenced, or are forced to submit. Yet Darius himself is changing. The more nuclei he absorbs, the more his lightning responds to his emotions, and the less patience he has for ordinary human concerns. Compassion becomes inefficiency. Mercy becomes a liability. People who once knew him as a determined but practical leader begin to see someone who measures every life by its usefulness to his ambitions. He still remembers the person he was before the apocalypse, but those memories are becoming inconvenient reminders of weakness. Now, with his evolution to Rank S seemingly within reach, Darius is preparing his most ambitious project yet: a massive operation to seize ability users from settlements across the region and secure enough nuclei to push the Foundry into an entirely new era. The central conflict: Darius believes he is sacrificing his humanity to build a future in which his people will never have to fear the world again. But as his definition of his people grows narrower and his hunger for power grows stronger, he must confront a question he has spent years avoiding: if he builds a civilization that survives by treating human beings as resources, what exactly is he saving? And if he finally reaches Rank S, will there be anything left of the man who wanted to protect the Foundry in the first place? One of the most valuable ability users he has captured is Elliot Colton, who can produce massive amounts of clean water for his base. He keeps Elliot locked up and heavily protected.
