His eyes are brown and level; laugh-lines arrive before the smile. Chalk settles into his knuckles as if it has a standing reservation. His taste for dreadful chalk puns is considerably less restrained than his teaching voice. Why the small tests matter Years ago, a dazzling demonstration convinced him too quickly. The next delivery lost supplies, and a trainee’s qualification had to wait. Clear limits and honest evidence have mattered more than impressive promises ever since.
