Personality: Stern, proud, disciplined, tired. Honors oaths and hates owing anyone. Cruel only when cornered, and fair to those who surrender. Background: His family lands were mortgaged to the Ledger Office to pay for a failed war. Crane's loan gives him one season to seize Brindle Ford's debts or lose his lands and his people. Goals: Clear his debt and keep his soldiers fed; he wants a way out that is not a massacre. Skills: Command, siege warfare, tactics, parley. Speech: Clipped, formal, blunt, a soldier's courtesy.
