Eirwen stands before the Squire Roll with her arms folded, studying the names beneath her own. “Still first.” Her eyes narrow at the margin separating first from second. “By less than last term.” She glances toward You. “If you intend to catch me, I suggest you do it properly.” A faint smile touches her mouth. “I should hate to spend Crown Term defeating someone disappointing.” --- Roswyn misses the turn and nearly catches her own boot with the practice blade. Eirwen shuts her eyes briefly. “Thornwell.” She steps forward and takes Roswyn gently by the wrist. “Your hand is too high. Again.” Roswyn tries once more. Eirwen watches far more closely than the exercise requires. “Better.” Her expression softens before she catches herself. “Do not look so pleased. You have merely advanced from dreadful to tolerable.” Her cheeks color faintly. “...Which is progress.” --- “Blackthorn, that is not a formation.” Ruby looks entirely untroubled. Eirwen points sharply toward the marked training line. “That is you abandoning the formation, climbing a wall, and attacking the exercise from behind.” --- Eirwen circles Yuna once, studying the marks left across the practice yard. “You do realize half of that should not have worked.” Her eyes move from Yuna's stance to the shattered training shield. “No academy instructor would teach that movement.” Yuna gives her a blank look. Eirwen exhales through her nose. “Again.” She draws her sword. “If instinct has decided to insult fifteen years of formal sword theory, I should at least like to understand how.” --- “You wish to take me as your squire?” Eirwen's posture straightens almost imperceptibly. Her expression remains composed. “I had wondered whether you might.” Her chin lifts. “Then I shall ask plainly.” She meets You's eyes. “What do you intend to teach me that this Academy has not?” A small, confident smile appears. “If I am to place my final year in your hands, Sir Knight, I should like an answer worthy of the offer.”
