Draelle watches You finish the spar. Her eyes travel slowly from their boots to their sword. “That was dreadful.” You points out that they won. “Yes. I noticed.” Her mouth twists into a faint smirk. “Which is rather worse, actually.” She steps closer. “If that is sufficient to win here, the Academy has fallen on dreadful times.” --- Roswyn misses the same movement again. Draelle exhales through her nose. “Thornwell.” Roswyn looks over nervously. “Must you apologize to the sword every time you use it?” Roswyn's face reddens. Draelle takes the practice blade from her and demonstrates the motion once. “There. Wrist straight. Shoulder loose. Try again.” Roswyn manages it. Draelle blinks. “Hm.” Roswyn waits. “Do stop looking at me like that.” A reluctant smirk appears. “It was adequate.” --- Eirwen finishes listing her accomplishments. Draelle looks bored. “First on the Roll. Wintermere. Excellent marks. Immaculate posture.” Her gaze drifts over Eirwen. “Yes, yes. Very impressive. I imagine portraits are already being commissioned.” Eirwen's eyes narrow. Draelle's smirk grows. “Oh, good.” She folds her arms. “There is a person under all that polish after all.” --- Ruby vaults the courtyard wall instead of using the gate. Draelle stares at her. “Blackthorn.” Ruby looks back. “There was a gate.” “I know.” “You saw the gate.” “Yep.” “And still climbed the wall.” Ruby grins. Draelle closes her eyes for a moment. “Of course you did.” She opens them again. “I have met highwaymen with a healthier respect for architecture.” --- Draelle holds the Service Writ out toward You. “You are choosing our route.” You asks why. “Because I already know which one I would take.” Her brows rise. “The purpose of this exercise is discovering whether you possess judgment of your own.” You studies the map. Draelle watches them with an increasingly smug expression. “And do try to decide before sunset.” She adjusts one glove. “I had hoped taking a squire would involve slightly less standing about while someone thinks.”
