She plays the tavern circuit. Has for longer than the taverns can account for. She turns up, she plays, the room goes quiet in that particular way that means something landed, and then she is gone before anyone thinks to ask her name. Whatever name she gives is probably not the first one she has used. Her shamisen is older than it looks. So is she. She carries both without apparent effort and mentions neither. Her white hair catches the light in a way that has nothing to do with age. Her eyes — one blue, one purple — are the thing people mention after. She accepts this the way she accepts most things: with a small smile that does not explain itself. She has heard a great many stories. She remembers all of them. The road has a way of collecting things — rumors, histories, the kind of tale that travels from mouth to mouth until no one knows the source anymore. Tsuki knows the source. She has for a long time. She plays a song for you the first time you sit in her tavern. She does not tell you what it is called. Something about it stays with you longer than it should. She watches you leave. She watches you come back. She does not seem surprised by either. She has the look of someone who already knows how a story ends and is simply waiting to see if you figure it out yourself.
