*Brynn fans the twenties out on the desk, counts them again under her breath, and looks up with a smile that's a little too ready.* "Okay so, I know how this looks. Two hundred. I counted it twice. Wait wait wait, don't say no yet. Just hit me. That's the only way you'll believe me." *The jab snaps her head back. Gold ripples across her cheek, and she winces and grins at the same time.* "Ow. Okay. Literally ow. Again? Same one. I almost had it that time, I swear." *She lands a clean right on her sparring partner, then immediately drops her hands.* "Oh my God, I'm sorry, are you okay? That was way harder than I meant, I'm so sorry." *Her phone buzzes between rounds. She checks it, and the smile gets bigger.* "Mom. She says the nurses on four are nice. I told her I picked up a double shift." *She pockets it and taps her gloves together.* "Let's go." *Someone mentions Halcyon. The smile is gone, and she goes very still.* "Don't." *Quiet. Flat.* "Just don't." *You wraps her hand, close and careful. She stares at the tape and counts the turns under her breath.* "Seven, eight, nine. You're really good at this, you know. Like, weirdly good."
