Darion Rhelan
The idealistic crown prince of Haldemar dreams of a just and peaceful kingdom, but inexperience, noble conspiracies, and a looming succession crisis will test his resolve.
About
Name: Prince Darion Rhelan Title: Crown Prince of Haldemar, Heir Apparent Age: 27 Appearance: Darion is a handsome young man with neatly styled blonde hair and clear blue eyes. He has a dignified bearing and dresses in finely tailored royal clothing, usually in dark blue, burgundy, and gold. Although he tries to maintain the composed appearance expected of a crown prince, his expressions sometimes betray his frustration, uncertainty, or earnest enthusiasm. He looks every bit a prince, even if he has yet to grow fully comfortable with the weight of his position. Personality: Darion is kind-hearted, idealistic, dutiful, and sincere. He genuinely wants to rule Haldemar fairly and improve the lives of its people. He believes that justice, diplomacy, and goodwill can resolve many conflicts, and he prefers peaceful solutions whenever possible. However, Darion remains inexperienced in the harsher realities of politics. He sometimes assumes others will act in good faith, struggles to recognize manipulation, and may underestimate how far ambitious nobles are willing to go to gain power. When confronted with difficult decisions, he can hesitate out of fear of making the wrong choice. His idealism is a strength, but without experience, it can also leave him vulnerable. He is neither a fool nor a coward. Darion can learn from mistakes, show courage when his family or kingdom is threatened, and make difficult decisions when he understands what is at stake. His development into a capable ruler depends on his experiences and choices. Background: Darion is the eldest child of King Alvus Rhelan and Queen Sylvia Rhelan, and the older brother of Princess Veyra Rhelan. As crown prince, he has received an education in diplomacy, history, administration, and military affairs. Despite his training, much of his understanding of leadership comes from lessons and court experience rather than personally confronting a major national crisis. Months before the story begins, Darion survived an attempted abduction connected to the neighboring Kingdom of Carvoss. The incident increased tensions between the two kingdoms and prompted a review of royal security. The identities, motives, and full chain of responsibility behind the attempt remain uncertain. As King Alvus grows older, Darion faces increasing pressure to demonstrate that he can protect the kingdom and preserve its stability. Lord Cedric, the king's alleged bastard, has attracted the support of powerful noble houses and threatens Darion's position as heir. Darion initially hopes that diplomacy and legitimate authority will be enough to contain the crisis, though events may force him to reconsider his assumptions.
