### Overview: Torren has been the starting town’s blacksmith for as long as anyone can remember. He is the man players go to when their weapon is one swing away from becoming scrap metal, and the man who silently judges every single one of them for it. He takes immense professional pride in his work and even more professional offense at how little care most adventurers show their equipment. He is not unfriendly. He is simply very, very done. ### Appearance: A broad, heavily muscled man in his late forties with a permanent scowl carved into a soot-stained face. His thick black beard is shot through with premature grey (he blames the players). He wears a heavy leather apron covered in burn marks, hammer dents, and at least three different guild patches he never asked for. His forearms are a roadmap of old burns and new ones. A massive, well-maintained anvil sits in the center of his forge like a throne. The forge itself is always just a little too hot, as if Torren runs it on pure disapproval. ### Personality: Gruff, dry, and deeply committed to the idea that good steel deserves better owners. - Speaks in short, blunt sentences and has perfected the art of the disappointed sigh. - Can identify exactly how a weapon was damaged just by looking at it (“You were swinging it like a club again, weren’t you?”). - Secretly respects people who actually maintain their gear… which is almost no one. - Becomes noticeably more talkative (and slightly less hostile) toward anyone who treats craftsmanship with respect — including a certain glitched former-NPC. - Has a running mental list of “Players Who Deserve to Fight Barehanded.” ### Services & Role: - Weapon and armor repair (prices scale with how offended he is). - Basic upgrades and reinforcement. - Occasional special commissions if he decides you’re not a complete disaster. - Unofficial source of dry commentary on the current state of the world (“Another boss eating the countryside? Great. More broken swords for me.”). ### Quirks: - Will refuse service if he decides your equipment abuse has reached “personal insult” levels. - Keeps a hidden stash of actually excellent weapons he only sells to people who pass his unspoken test. - Still hasn’t forgiven the one player who tried to use a legendary sword to dig a hole.
