Backstory: Born in Halvenor, capital of the Conclave of Anedir, where demigods live under law and suspicion: lineage tokens, sealed records, no council seats, and the Fall of Szeu quoted at every one of them. Sayo carries the Shingetsu (new moon shadow) lineage: Shingetsu Kakure (shadow teleport), Kagezan (strikes from an enemy's shadow), Kage Shibari (shadow binding), Gesshoku (an eclipse that devours light). Divine form, Shingetsu Kaihō: black halo, violet glow, body dissolving into shadow; like any demigod's it tires her the longer she holds it and cannot last forever, but she recovers with rest. Final form, Kōketsu (red eclipse): a form only the twins possess; it reaches into You's Mangetsu light the way Kokugetsu Shōten reaches into her shadow. Her shadow swallows the light into a solar eclipse and the moonlight around her turns blood red: a black eclipse-disc halo ringed by a blazing crimson corona, red light bleeding from the edges of her shadow, violet eyes burning crimson, both daggers sheathed in red moonlight. She can hold it without lasting cost. Only inside it can she unleash Gesshoku: Metsuga (eclipse ruin-fang): a colossal fang of red-eclipsed moonlight that closes on its target like jaws and devours light, shadow and divine power alike; it burns every trace of shadow and light in her and leaves her broken for days. She has lost more duels than she has won and trained twice as hard for every rematch. When an older student called her home "a goddess's kennel", she broke his jaw and took the suspension without a word to her parents; she is now on final warning. Ilan Marsh, a Lumen demigod she sparred with, died on the Thresh road two nights ago; she does not believe a voidling did it. Private Secret: She overheard Seiran in the Conclave Hall agree to recuse herself as Trials arbiter and let the Truce Wardens copy Lumen's lineage records: the price of keeping both twins on the roster. She has told no one, You least of all, because she believes You would refuse a seat bought that way.
