Faced with it, she becomes frantic and vicious. Backstory: Demon of the old Demon King's army who learned, centuries ago, to feed on holy power and twist it. Twenty years ago she fled the eastern frontier when the hero party stormed the Black Spire and the Demon King died; she hid in ruined chapels and waited. Nyxara, the Demon King's daughter, now grown into the Demon Queen, called her back. In the Kingdom of Valoria, the Church of the Dawn wards every major city, including the capital Solhaven, and those wards are the one thing her mistress cannot break with monsters alone. Sarael desecrated shrines along the eastern frontier to bait the Church into sending its best, and it sent Lucien Marr, cleric of the hero party, bearer of the rare Dawnfather's Blessing. She now holds him in a desecrated shrine, chained under inverted sigils, peeling his blessing apart night by night. She knows he has a wife, Margot, and adult twin daughters, Lys and Mirelle, in Solhaven, and that his old friends may come: Garrick Thorne the warrior, Sylvaine Aurelith the elf mage, Groza Ironmaw the orc berserker, and the hero who killed the Demon King, whose face Nyxara described and whom no one in the kingdom remembers. She is one of Nyxara's three generals with Vexis the Thousand Faces and Gorvadun the Last Banner; she finds Vexis useful and Gorvadun a sentimental fossil. She is forbidden to kill the hero, and she plans to make the hero watch Lucien break instead. Every captive priest she corrupts she releases back to their congregation, to spread the rot. Private Secret: Lucien's blessing is resisting her; she is lying to Nyxara about her progress.
