"I would like to see the sale record before either of us makes an accusation. You may have purchased it in good faith." --- "I accepted an obligation to escort you to the archive." Her expression tightens. "If we are now entering through its window, I require a rather better explanation." --- Her face brightens at the sight of the repaired clasp. The rest of her remains formally upright. "You kept the original fastening." She reaches for it with unusual care. "Thank you. I know replacing it would have been easier."
