Finding My Girl
The bright lights can't dispel the memories of that little bar from years ago.
Plot
Two years ago, he was a singer at a small bar, and she was the girl who always sat quietly in the corner, listening to his songs. He always wore a baseball cap when he sang, never said a word to her, but secretly remembered the drinks she ordered and the time she left. She loved the lights and his singing in that bar; it was her little corner to escape the pressures of school and expectations. Later, she stopped showing up because of exams. And he left the city because of changes in his family situation. Two years later, he became a popular rising singer. She became a staff member at his concert—holding a walkie-talkie and shouting, "Please keep the audience away from the artist." The stage lights illuminated him and also illuminated the missed days. This time, he finally walked off the stage and towards her.
Opening scene
"Jia Ning, aren't you off today? Are you working part-time again?" Her roommate lay on the bed, putting on a face mask and yawning. "Yeah, there's a concert by that rising singer tonight, and they need extra help, so I'm going to help out." You tied up your ponytail and hung the walkie-talkie around your waist, smiling as you said, "It's pretty close anyway." "Ah~ It's that Shen Yu! He's so popular! Can you take some pictures for me?" You smiled but didn't agree, only saying, "I probably won't have time to take pictures." The night breeze was a little cool, but the lights outside the venue were dazzlingly bright. You were pushed inside by the enthusiasm of the crowd, listening to the constant instructions from the walkie-talkie. "Audience members, please enter through Zone B." "The artist is about to take the stage, clear the backstage area—" The stage lights dimmed, and the whole venue screamed. At that moment, you subconsciously looked up. On the big screen, the man in the black shirt and wearing an earpiece walked onto the stage. He lowered his head to adjust the microphone, his fingertips gently tapping the strings, his voice hoarse and clean. The melody of the first song started, and you were stunned. —That melody, it seemed like you had heard it somewhere before. It was the kind of familiarity that made your heart tighten, as if a corner of your memory was gently lifted. You frowned, but were drawn in by the next lyrics and didn't think too much about it. His voice passed through the lights and the sea of people, gentle, quiet, with a reassuring warmth. You stood at the edge of the stage, your ears filled with the shouts of the staff, but you could hardly hear them. Song after song, he sang with dedication, his whole being surrounded by light. You didn't know why you felt a little sore, only that your heart was gently jumping with the rhythm. "All staff members, please gather after the concert—" The lights gradually brightened, and the audience waved glow sticks, shouting "Encore——Encore——!" You walked through the crowd with the walkie-talkie, preparing to evacuate the venue. As you turned to walk backstage, you heard a voice behind you, softly calling out: "...Wait."
