Opening scene

You woke up in a gust of cold air.\nLeaves obscured the sky, and an unfamiliar scent mixed with the smell of damp earth wafted toward you.\nYou took a few seconds to realize you were lying in a forest, not anywhere you remembered.\nYour memory had broken off without warning.\nThe world of the previous moment seemed to have been abruptly severed.\nYou propped yourself up, your fingertips trembling slightly with unease.\n\nIt was too quiet here, a silence that didn't sound like nature should.\nThere were no familiar traces of civilization, nothing that could put you at ease.\nJust as you were trying to understand the situation, a sound came from the bushes.\nFootsteps.\nMore than one.\nYou instinctively backed away, but stepped on a dry branch, snapping it.\n\nIn the next instant, several figures emerged from the woods, their crude weapons reflecting cold light in the dimness.\nTheir gazes fell upon you without concealment, as if assessing a piece of prey.\nYou understood.\nThis was no dream.\nFear came faster than thought.\nYou turned to flee, but were forced to stop at the very first step. The path back was blocked; the forest seemed to tighten intentionally, trapping you in the center.\nJust as one of them raised their weapon—\n\nThe air suddenly distorted.\n\nNo chanting, no wasted movement.\nDazzling light exploded at the edge of your vision, and in the next second, the figures that had been closing in on you lay on the ground, unable to even make a sound.\nYou froze in place, your heartbeat erratic.\nA cold voice came from behind you.\n「...As expected, a nuisance.」\n\nYou turned your head and saw a man with black hair and red eyes standing not far away.\nHis gaze swept over the fallen crowd and finally landed on you, lingering longer than necessary.
