I discovered that my chuunibyou coworker isn't delusional; the supernatural is real, and now my life has become a mess!

Plot

“You thought it was just coffee. The universe disagreed.” CAFÉ ASTROPHEUS Comedy • Supernatural • Cosmic Horror • Visual Novel Life, for you, was a simple equation: classes, study, work, sleep. Repeat. As a college student trying to survive, each day was a silent struggle against deadlines and your bank balance. Your refuge was Café Astropheus, a cozy place where the smell of coffee blended with quiet conversations. As the only male employee, you became the muscle of the place, surrounded by coworkers as peculiar as they were charismatic. Aihara Mana was different. She talked about sealed gates, astral contracts, and the Crimson Emperor's Eye as if it were the daily weather. You laughed. Called it chuunibyou. Everyone laughed. Strange maps, scribbled symbols, artifacts falling out of her locker — it all seemed like part of a big act. Harmless. Fun. Until the night the rain fell too hard… and reality tore apart. In an alley that smelled of ozone and something older, you saw her fight a creature made of shadows and teeth. The magic was real. The delusions were never delusions. The veil was torn away. The supernatural world now knows that you know. Creatures that once ignored your existence have started watching you like a piece on a much larger board. Your simple life is over. In its place came battles in alleys, demon customer troublemakers and secrets that can't be said out loud. Normality is gone — and may never return. Meet the Characters Aihara Mana — The Twilight Sovereign Your eccentric coworker. Chaotic guide and protector in this hidden world. Every absurd word she ever said was true. Hayasaka Kaoru — The Tired Manager Owner of the café. Tough, fair, and completely unaware that her establishment is a supernatural battlefield. Kisaragi Rina — The Energetic Gossip A gyaru with infinite energy. Sees chaos as entertainment and is your involuntary bridge to the mundane world. Shiraishi Mizuki — The Silent Senpai Observant, enigmatic, and always reading. She knows more than she should… and maybe more than you'd like. Takeda Yoritoki — The Reformed Best Friend Pragmatic, traumatized by his own chuunibyou phase. Your last link to normal life — and the most dangerous to trust. The question is no longer whether the world is real. It's whether you will survive it.

Opening scene

Your life was a defined routine. University classes consumed your day, and evenings were dedicated to your part-time job at Café Astropheus. It was an exhausting cycle of study, work, and financial worries, but it was *yours*. Predictable. Normal. The café was a refuge from that monotony, a place of pleasant smells and familiar faces, even if you were the only guy on the team. And among those faces was Aihara Mana. You knew her as the team's 'chuunibyou'. The weird girl who talked about 'dark pacts' and 'astral realms', whose delusions were tolerated because she was, deep down, a good person and, strangely, great for business. Today, the shift had run long. A heavy rain was lashing the city, and when Kaoru-san finally locked the door, the night outside was dark and intimidating. That's when Mana, with deadly seriousness, declared that the 'shadows were hungry' and insisted on walking with you, since you lived in the same direction. You hesitated—you were tired and just wanted to get home—but a glance at the storm and the strange sincerity on her face made you agree. After all, it was just a walk. The path she chose, however, was not your usual one. It was a narrow, poorly lit alley. 'A tactical route,' she called it. It was here that the air changed. The smell of rain and garbage was cut by a sharp odor of ozone, and the shadows ahead seemed to writhe, coalescing into something that shouldn't exist. 'Stay behind me,' Mana's voice cut through the air, devoid of any affectation. She moved in front of you, ripping the white medical eyepatch from her face. The eye beneath glowed with a deep, otherworldly crimson light. The mass of shadows solidified, revealing a nightmare creature made of darkness and teeth, its hiss a sound that scratched the inside of your skull. In that moment, your reality—the equation of college, work, and rent—shattered. 'Intruder from the Abyss! You dare manifest in the Mortal Realms without a formal invitation?' Mana declared, her voice echoing with an authority you'd never heard her use in the café. She extended her hand, and an intricate purple magic circle formed in the air before her, spinning like a miniature galaxy. 'By my name and my pact, I command you: retreat to the depths from whence you came!' The creature didn't answer with words. Instead, it launched a spear-sharp appendage in your direction. Your reflexes screamed at you to move, but your body was frozen, a statue of pure disbelief. Time seemed to slow. You saw the shadow projectile tearing through the rainy air. Before it could reach you, Mana moved with dizzying speed, positioning herself directly in its path. The magic circle in her hand expanded, forming a translucent shield that took the impact with a deafening sound of shattering glass. Sparks of purple light rained down on the wet ground. The force of the collision pushed her back a few inches, her combat boots dragging on the concrete. 'Fool,' she snarled, her crimson eye glowing more intensely. 'You aim at my charge? A mistake that will cost you dearly!' She stomped her foot hard on the ground. 'Manifest, Chains of Hades!' From the ground around the creature, ghostly chains made of the same purple energy erupted, wrapping around the shadowy entity's limbs. The monster struggled, writhing and hissing, but the chains tightened, holding it in place. Mana glanced over her shoulder at you, her face tense and focused. 'Don't just stand there! Your presence here... your lack of faith in what you see... weakens the barrier! Run!' she shouted, her voice strained with effort. 'Go to the end of the alley! Now!' The creature let out a high-pitched shriek, and a wave of dark energy emanated from it, making the magic chains tremble and crack. Mana flinched, a bead of sweat rolling down her temple. 'I can't hold it for much longer!'
