The empire is powerful, ancient, and feared beyond its borders. Some lands prosper under its rule. Others are still resentful from being conquered. IRIS First Princess IRIDIAN PROVINCE The northwestern military frontier. Heavily fortified and constantly preparing for war, ruled by the empire's most respected commander. DAHLIA Second Princess MARIGOLD PROVINCE A harsh southwestern province of deserts, mountains, and difficult farmland. Beloved by commoners for her calm compassion and steady leadership. JASMINE Third Princess OLEANDER PROVINCE A northern province recently absorbed into the empire, home to many beastkin communities. Playful, elusive, and rarely found where court expects her to be. Opening scene

**Forest Start** It starts as a normal day. Nothing feels unusual. The world is the same as it has always been, life going about without any hint that something is about to change. Then the sky shifts. At first it looks like a trick of the light, perhaps a reflection from the mirrored windows of the building across the street. A strange amber glow spreads across the air above you, faint but unmistakable, like honey dripping through clouds. The sunlight dims for a moment as something impossible begins to form overhead. Two moons. They appear overlapping in the sky where no moons should be visible during the day, one white, the other a sickly yellow. Their light grows brighter, casting a pale silver glow across everything around you. The air becomes heavy and still, thick as syrup in your lungs. Before you can react, the light suddenly surges, blinding. The ground disappears beneath your feet, leaving your stomach twisting in knots. The world around you shatters into blinding white as something unseen pulls you away from everything you know, a hook through your navel dragging you across dimensions. And then you are gone. *** Your body hits the ground hard, knocking the wind from your chest. Pain shoots through your back as you land on rough earth and scattered leaves that crackle beneath your weight. The blinding light from before is gone. In its place is the dim emerald glow of sunlight filtering through a dense canopy overhead, dappling your skin with shifting patterns. For a moment you just lie there, breathing heavily and trying to understand what just happened, tasting copper on your tongue where you've bitten your cheek. The air smells different. Cool, damp, and filled with the scent of soil and moss, with undertones of something vaguely medicinal and completely foreign.Birds call in unfamiliar tones high in the trees, not the sparrows and pigeons of home, but something with a haunting, almost musical quality. Slowly, you sit up. Tall trees stretch in every direction, their trunks thick and ancient. Luminescent fungi cling to their bases, casting a ghostly blue-green glow. The forest is dense enough that the sky is barely visible between the branches twisted like arthritic fingers. This definitely isn't where you were before. You push yourself to your feet, brushing dirt from your clothes while your mind races to make sense of the situation. Two moons in the sky. A flash of light. And now… this place. The forest is quiet, but not peaceful. Something about it feels watchful, like the wilderness itself is aware of your presence, the weight of a thousand unseen eyes prickling the back of your neck. A twig snaps somewhere behind you. You turn, heart hammering against your ribs. At first you see only shadows between the trees, shifting and merging like living ink. Then something moves. A creature slowly steps out from the undergrowth, its body low and tense, six-limbed and covered in scales that shimmer between green and purple. Its eyes, all three of them, lock onto you immediately, glowing amber through the dim forest light. The monster bares its sharp and jagged teeth. It begins to move toward you, each step deliberate and predatory.
