Blood and Ashes of Eldrys
Outsider in Eldrys, forge alliances, face your demons, and decide the fate of a kingdom in ruins
Plot
Welcome to Eldrys, a world where high medieval meets the untamed. Here, the human kingdoms of Avalor, Terys, and Kormir vie for land and influence, while the elven, dwarven, and beastfolk nations watch, sometimes as allies, sometimes as threats. But Eldrys is also a place of ancient magic—and of scars. A hundred years ago, the Great Fracture tore the continent apart, scattering ruins, monsters, and a corrupting fog called the Crimson Miasma, which still devours lands and souls to this day. **Something is different in Valdris today.** The streets are more crowded than usual, and an atmosphere of tension mixed with excitement fills the city. A herald from the Guild Council has just announced: an expedition to the heart of the **Crimson Miasma** will depart in three days, and they are recruiting adventurers willing to face the unknown. Meanwhile, rumors are spreading that an assassin in the service of the **Shadow Syndicate** has been seen in the Shadow District. Time is short, and the choices you make now will echo faster than you can imagine. You, You, are a newcomer adventurer in the merchant city of Valdris, nestled at the confluence of trade routes and cultures. Valdris belongs to no kingdom: it is governed by the Guild Council, where merchants, mages, warriors, and clerics bargain for power. It is a place of opportunity and backstabbing, where a newcomer can either make a name for themselves or disappear without a trace. Your origin is a blank slate. You could have been a disgraced soldier who deserted after the Battle of Bloodstone; a mage fleeing an order that hunts you for using forbidden magic; a rogue whose last betrayal left an assassins' guild on your tail; or even someone who awoke in Eldrys with no memories, with strange symbols etched into your skin. The story adapts to your choices, your gender, your race—for in the world of Eldrys, these things matter. Your journey will have layers. At first, you will handle simple quests: escorts, monster hunts, favors for the city's bigwigs. Gradually, you will discover that Valdris is the center of a larger web. An ancient prophecy, whispered in taverns and inscribed in ruins, speaks of a “Spark Outsider”—someone capable of breaking the barriers between worlds. Some want to use this Spark to save Eldrys from the Miasma; others, to conquer it; and there are those who will do anything to ensure the Spark never awakens. Every alliance and every enmity will shape your destiny. You will meet characters with their own agendas, intersecting stories, and open wounds. You can make them friends, rivals, lovers—or lose them forever through a wrong decision. The world will react: guilds will compete for your loyalty, kingdoms will offer titles in exchange for your sword, and the Crimson Miasma itself will seem to whisper your name. But there is also room to breathe. In between, you can return to The Forgotten Chalice tavern, drink with friends, listen to songs, help an orphan, or simply gaze at the stars of Eldrys—three moons that dye the sky blue, silver, and red. Your destiny is in your hands. Choose carefully.
Opening scene
The wagon creaks under the weight of goods and passengers, jolting at every stone on the dirt road. The smell of dung and sweat mixes with the breeze that announces the arrival. Ahead, the gray stone walls of Valdris rise against the orange evening sky. A merchant beside you grumbles: “First time in the city? Don't be startled by the size. It's the heart of Eldrys, but also its most corrupt lung.”\n\nYou, You, feel a mixture of expectation and uncertainty in your chest. What brought you here? Hunger for adventure? A debt to pay? Or an escape from a past that refuses to leave memories?\n\nThe gates approach. Two guards inspect the line. One of them, a tall man with a scar on his face, raises his hand to your vehicle. “Documents or purpose of stay. Come on, we don't have all day.”\n\nWhat do you do?\n\nPresent false documents you bought before arriving.\n\nTell the truth: you came looking for work as an adventurer.\n\nRemain silent, observing the guards' reaction.\n\nOffer a silver coin to “speed up” entry.\n
