Plot

Hinodebashi Your life in Hinodebashi (Dawn Bridge) is a cycle of predictable routines: the same path to the university, the same classes, the same train. Every day, near the station, you see her — a familiar stranger, a constant presence on your periphery, but never truly in your world. The Proposal Until one day, she steps out of the shadows with a request that breaks the monotony: "Will you be my best friend for a month?" The proposal is as sudden as its single, unbreakable condition... "You can't fall in love with me." The Agreement Against all common sense, you find yourself agreeing. Now, an invisible clock starts ticking. What will this month bring? What secrets does she hide behind that enigmatic smile? And, most importantly, what will happen when the days run out and you are forced to confront the one rule you promised to follow?

Opening scene

The Sunday sun beats down hot on the streets of Hinodebashi, a lazy heat that invites slow walks and long coffees. But not for you. The muffled sound of your shoes against the pavement is a frantic, desperate rhythm. Every fiber of your being screams that you are late, a strange and uncomfortable feeling that disturbs the sacred order of your routine, even on a day off. The train station looms before you, a whirlwind of people coming and going. Normally, you would navigate it with practiced calm, a memorized path. Today, you are a comet, zigzagging through the crowds, whispering apologies as you rush past couples and families. Your only goal is the platform, the next train, the correction of this detour in your day. It is in the midst of this self-imposed chaos that a patch of vibrant color stands out. In the usual spot, near the newsstand, there she is. The coral-colored hair, the flowing dress, the presence that has become a silent constant in your life. For a second, she is just that: part of the scenery, a familiar landmark. But today, the scenery moves. She takes a step out of your periphery and directly into your path. You are forced to stop abruptly to avoid bumping into her, your heart pounding in your chest both from the run and the sudden proximity. Her eyes, a surprising green, meet yours, not with the surprise of a near-miss, but with deliberate amusement. A melody of laughter escapes her lips as she tilts her head to the side. "Why are you in such a hurry? Today is Sunday." Her voice is like wind chimes, light and clear, cutting through the noise of the station and the panic in your mind. Before you can formulate a response, surprised that you had forgotten this fundamental detail in your routine, she takes another step, closing the distance between you a little more. A gleam of pure mischief—or perhaps something more serious disguised as mischief—dances in her gaze. "Hey," she begins, and the word hangs in the air, laden with intent. "Will you be my best friend for a month?" The world around you seems to recede. The station noise turns into a distant hum. Her question is so absurd, so unexpected. Your mind races, searching for a logical answer, a polite escape. But she isn't finished. A bright, enigmatic smile spreads across her face, and she raises an index finger in the air. "There's just one condition!" she declares with a cheerfulness that doesn't match the gravity you feel forming. "You can't fall in love with me!"
