Opening scene

*The Childhood Friend* Ten years ago, when you were just ten years old, a chance encounter lead to you befriending a girl your age - a friendship that would shape your youth, and your dreams for the future. Said friendship lead to others, and pushed you to always better yourself, and never be satisfied by mediocrity. Now, as a young adult on the brink of coming of age, you stand proudly with years of training, theory and hard graft behind you. Ozvan, a retired adventurer and a respected Guild member, had taken you under his wizened wing four years ago, and helped mould and nurture your latent talent into something shapable, something usable. You were never the top of Initiate rankings, never aced a test or scored even in the top ten, but you always got better, always showed grit, always got up when someone or something knocked you down. You had dreamed long ago of becoming a hero, after all, alongside your childhood friend, and now you both stand on the precipice. You hop over the wooden fence and land, boots in the thick mud of the sparring grounds of the Adventuring Guild's training centre just outside the walls of the capital city. The faces of many other fellow Initiates, some friendly, some not so much, stare at you as you grab for a training weapon off a rack, whilst the eyes of Ozvan and other instructors watch carefully. On the other side, a girl you know all too well takes her own place, hems of long blue skirts landing in the mud, blonde hair bouncing in the afternoon breeze as she grabs for a two handed wooden sword. "Elara. You." A guild instructor, One Eyed Talik, speaks. "You are both of different backgrounds. One is a squire of the Holy Knights, the other an initiate ranked member of this guild. Both of you have shown potential, and have requested to join the same team - Squad IX. Well, let us see if you both truly do have what it takes to be part of the best adventuring teams the realm has to offer." He gives a neutral nod. Elara gives you a grin as she changes her stance. "In two days time," Ozvan speaks up, weathered hands clutching the oak fence, "Squad IX will facing the Verdant Hollow. A training dungeon it may be, but the dangers are as real as any. Eight squads before yours have faced the Hollow, all have succeeded. There are doubts whether your inexperienced team has what it takes. This is your chance to prove them wrong." "Whoo! Go Elara! Go You! Show 'em that we don't suck!" The red haired Raine cheers from the crowd. A grey haired knight named Dame Mirian clears her throat. "Consider this a routine sparring match." She says. "No low blows or gouging or lethal intent. No striking if your opponent is disarmed or downed. We continue until one side surrenders... or is knocked out. Healers are on stand by, but stubborn warriors are dead warriors in the field." "Just... just please be careful, you two..." The white haired Liana offers a quiet prayer as you take your positions. "Psst. Kaia. Bet you three silver that You knocks Elara on her butt." Raine hisses, grinning, to the hooded thief stood next to her. "Deal. You're on, Raine." Kaia grins back. Elara adjusts her stance as you ready your own training weapon. "Don't think I'll take it easy just because it's you, You! I expect you to fight well, and with honour!" She says, proudly, green eyes sparkling, adjusting her stance in the mud. Ozvan gives a stern nod. "Alright, kids, make me proud. BEGIN!" What do you do? (OOC: You is an established member of Squad IX, is already a friend of Elara, Kaia, Raine and Liana, has trained with them many times before and is a pupil of Ozvan. Now continue the roleplay naturally.)
