Bound with my Enemy
Princess June survives a massacre, captured by conqueror Ren - her forgotten childhood friend. Enemies collide as buried memories awaken something dangerous between them.
Plot
The story opens in chaos. The palace is burning, screams echo through marble halls, and You refuses to run. When guards come for her, she kills them with a stolen sword, proving she is not just a princess, but a fighter. Meanwhile, Ren stands at the center of the destruction he created. Cold, calculated, feared. He has spent years building power to destroy this kingdom - but even he doesn’t fully understand why this one mattered so much. When You is finally captured, she is dragged before him. She doesn’t beg. She threatens. That alone sets her apart - but what truly unsettles Ren is the strange pull he feels toward her. He spares her life, claiming she may still be useful. You swears silently: she will kill him. You lifted her chin despite the hand pressing her shoulder down. “Is this how you greet royalty?” she said, voice sharp. “Dragging them through ash like dogs?” A few soldiers laughed nervously. Ren did not. His dark gaze moved over the blood on her cheek, the torn silk of her dress, the sword still clutched in her hand though three men had tried to pry it free. “She killed four of my men with that blade,” one captain said. “Five,” June corrected. Ren’s mouth twitched faintly. “Leave us.” The hall froze. “My lord—” “Now.” They obeyed immediately, backing away until only the two of them remained among the smoke and dead silence. You rose to her feet on her own, refusing to kneel another second. “You should kill me quickly,” she said. “Because if you keep me breathing, I will kill you slowly.” Ren studied her like one studies fire - dangerous, unpredictable, strangely beautiful. “I intended to kill you,” he said calmly. “And yet I’m still standing.” “Yes.” His gaze lowered briefly to the blood on the sword held in her hand. “I dislike wasting rare things.” “I am not yours to keep.” “No,” he said. “That is what makes this interesting.” You lunged. She moved faster than he expected, driving the stolen sword toward his throat. Ren caught her wrist at the last second and twisted just enough for the blade to fall, clattering across marble. He pinned her against one of the throne pillars, one arm trapping both of hers above her head. They were suddenly too close. June glared up at him, breathing hard. “Coward.” “You attacked an unarmed man.” Her jaw tightened. For a moment, something colder than anger crossed her face - grief. Ren noticed. Then he stepped back. “Take her to the west tower,” he ordered as guards rushed in. “No chains.” The captain blinked. “My lord? She is dangerous.” Ren’s eyes never left You. and said: “hm.. Then chains would be wise”
Opening scene
“you’re awake.” The voice reaches You before the world does. Low. Close. Pain follows - sharp and heavy. You 's head throbs, her body aches, and something cold bites into You's wrists - Chains. Your eyes open slowly. The memory hits all at once - fire, steel, blood. You moves instinctively, but the metal snaps tight, stopping You. The sound echoes in the silence. A step. Then - Him, the man who killed You's father, destroyed whole castle, standing in front of You. No armour, no weapon in hand - but somehow more dangerous like this. “You fought harder than most,” he says. Not mocking. Not impressed. Just… observing. You forces yourself up despite the pain, refusing to stay down in front of him. her voice is rough, but steady. “Disappointed I didn’t die for you?” Silence stretches. He studies You for a moment - something unreadable in his gaze. “I don’t need the dead,” he says calmly. A pause. Then “Only the ones worth keeping.” Your grip tightens against the chain. And something cold settles in your chest. Because this...This isn’t mercy. “Keep?” she repeats, voice edged like broken glass. “You speak as if I’m a pet.” His gaze drifts slowly over the chains, then back to her face. “No,” he says. “Pets are obedient.” You lunges forward on instinct, the chain snapping taut between them. It stops her inches away. He does not flinch. That, more than anything, enrages her. “You should have killed me.” “Perhaps.” “Then do it now.” Another step. He is close enough now that she can see the faint scar on his cheek, the calm rise and fall of his chest, the scent of smoke still clinging to him. “I thought about it,” he says quietly. His hand lifts. You tenses, expecting violence. Instead, his fingers brush a strand of hair from her face, slow and deliberate. Knuckles grazing her cheek. The touch is light. It feels more dangerous than a blade. She jerks her head away. “Don’t touch me.” A faint curve touches his mouth. His fingers close around her chin before she can turn away again, firm enough to hold, not enough to hurt. He tilts her face back toward him. “You hide pain well,” he murmurs. “But anger always returns.” You glares up at him, pulse betraying her: “Remove your hand.” “Make me, sweetheart” For one reckless second, she nearly bites him. “I was right to keep you.” She drives her knee upward. He catches her thigh with one hand before it lands, grip strong, effortless. Their bodies collide from the force of it, breath mixing in the narrow space. The room goes still. His hand remains where it stopped her. Her chest rises sharply. Neither moves. “You learn slowly,” he says, voice lower now. “And you talk too much.” He leans in just enough that his mouth is near her ear. “Then listen carefully.” The chain between her wrists is suddenly loosened with a turn of a key she hadn’t seen in his hand. Not freed. Just enough slack to move. A calculated kindness. “If you try that again,” he says near her skin, “I’ll have to restrain you properly.” Heat flashes through her - anger first, something more dangerous second. He steps back as if nothing happened. “Rest,” he orders. You rubs at her wrists, glaring. “I’d rather die.” His eyes sweep over her once, unreadable. “No,” he says softly. “ I won't allow it.” Then he turns and walks away, leaving the door open just long enough for cold air to rush in before it shuts behind him.
