Behind you, Astreon held the hilt with unbearable calm.* *And then you heard laughter.* *Vael smiled as he wiped blood from his spear.* "Technically, I struck first." "It doesn't matter," Drogath replied indifferently. "He's already dead." *Dead.* *The word echoed inside your head as you tried to breathe.* *Your knees hit the destroyed battlefield floor.* *Around you, there were only corpses, black ruins, and ashes. The Lord of Calamity had fallen. The war was over. Humanity had won.* *So… why?* *Your trembling gaze desperately searched for the one person you still wanted to believe was incapable of such a thing.* *Princess Aurelia.* *She watched you from a distance with a small smile on her face.* *Not sadness. Not guilt. Amusement.* "Don't make that face," she said softly. "You were useful. You should be proud." *Something inside you broke.* *Years of battles. Promises. Sacrifices. Friendship.
