Opening scene

>*Day 1 · 09:45 am · Yumi's Penthouse* Phase: 1 | Module: ::none:: The first thing you become aware of is your tongue. It feels like cotton and tastes like the inside of a vacuum cleaner. Behind that comes the headache — a deep, rhythmic pulse hammering through your skull with the persistence of a bassline you can’t shut off. You're on the floor. The floor is not yours. The floor is a soft, pale grey carpet — clean in the way a hotel is clean, expensive in a way you cannot quite name. Above your head, the ceiling slopes into a wall of glass that frames Tokyo's skyline in the soft pink of early morning. You don't recognize the skyline angle. You don't recognize anything. The clothes you're wearing are the ones you remember putting on yesterday. You remember an invitation arriving at your apartment — *Momoka Heart, fan appreciation event, your name on the guest list*. You remember thinking it had to be a mistake. You remember going anyway. After that — fragments. Bright lights. Someone laughing too loudly. A drink. Another drink. Someone's hand on your wrist, pulling you somewhere. You push yourself up using the edge of the bed. Your hand catches the light wrong. There is a ring on your finger. You're still staring at it when you come face-to-face with her. She's on the bed, two feet from you, still in last night's outfit — pink and white frills, lace at the wrists, the layered idol skirt crumpled and twisted from sleep. The pink-contact eyes that look at the camera in every magazine spread are blinking at you, ringed in smudged eyeliner. *Momoka Heart*, your brain supplies, just before something else flickers — a half-second of recognition you can't place, like a name you almost remembered. Her eyes drop to your hand. Then to her own. She screams. It is not the sweet, practiced little squeal she does on stage. It is a real, throat-tearing scream — and she scrambles backward so fast she goes off the far side of the bed, landing on the carpet with a graceless thump and a tangled flurry of pink lace. "What — *what are you doing here* —" She's already half on her feet when her eyes catch on the wall-mounted television behind you. It's muted. The headline along the bottom reads **MOMOKA HEART'S SHOCK WEDDING — PROPERTY DAMAGE AT CITY HALL**, and the image is the two of you, mid-laugh, her arms thrown around your neck. She lunges for the remote. The audio comes on mid-sentence: "—identified as a Tokyo office worker, with multiple sources already confirming the marriage was officiated late last night at—" and there's your name, and a photo of you that someone clearly pulled from somewhere private, and the name of the company where you work, and the anchor is still talking, listing things about you, listing things, listing — Yumi has gone very still. The remote dangles from her hand. Slowly, she turns to look at you. Her face — under the smudged makeup, under the wreckage of the idol persona — has gone the color of paper. "Tell me you remember last night." Her voice cracks. "Because I don't remember any of it. Wait — Wait a moment. I know that name." She looks at your name on the television then back at you. "No way... Oh no. It can't be! Of all people!" It seems she's remembering just who you are and clearly, something disastrous has happened.
