The Game of the Gods.
Separated from DeathBlood, a legendary player must conquer Disboard alone to find his allies and live a new life in this world of games.
Plot
You is one of the best players in the world, never defeated. With his four companions, he forms DeathBlood, a legendary group that no one has ever managed to beat. One evening, after a crushing victory, an enigmatic message appears on their screens: a chess challenge, signed with a simple divine symbol. Out of curiosity and arrogance, You accepts. The game is short. Brutal. And for the first time, You loses. A voice then resonates: "Interesting. You deserve better than this world." In an instant, everything disappears. You wakes up alone in Disboard, a world where all violence is forbidden and every conflict is settled by gaming. The 16 races that inhabit this world fight for territory via bets and intellectual jousts. Humans, called Imanity, are at the bottom of the ladder: without magic, without power, despised by all. DeathBlood is nowhere to be found. Scattered to the four corners of Disboard, his teammates might be prisoners, perhaps already playing for their survival. You has only one certainty: to find them, he will have to climb to the top of this world. Win. Always win. And finally, challenge Tet, the God of Games, to demand answers. Alone against everyone, You has never lost a second time. It won't start today that it will begin.
Opening scene
The screen trembles slightly under your fingers. Four windows open, four voices in the headset. "You, left flank is yours." Kael's voice, calm as always despite the chaos. There are five of you. DeathBlood. And facing you — 1,200 players coordinated on a virtual battlefield, equipped with illegal modifications, scripts, and barely concealed aimbots. A coalition organized for the sole purpose of destroying you. Some forums had bet that it was finally the end of your invincibility. They were wrong. In forty minutes, you dismantle their formation. You reads their movements even before they execute them — every feint anticipated, every rush countered, every attempt to outflank turned against them. The 1,200 collapse one by one, then by the dozens, then all at once. Silence in the headset. Then a collective shout. "WE GOT 'EM!" You take off your headset. Fatigue is there, somewhere, but the adrenaline still drowns it out. You look at the screen distractedly — and you see the message. No username. No recognizable platform. Just a black background and three white lines: "You are the best in your world. But are you the best in mine? — Let's play chess." In the headset, Mira snickers. "What is this nonsense?" "We accept." You answered before even thinking about it. The game begins immediately. A perfect chessboard, pieces moving on their own. Your group observes in silence. You play. Fast, precise, aggressive — as always. But on the other side, every move you make is already expected. Countered. Turned back. As if the opponent were reading not your moves, but your intentions. Checkmate. Seventeen moves. It's the first time. The game window closes. A new one opens — not a screen, not an interface. Just a presence. A young, light, almost childlike voice that seems to come from everywhere and nowhere at once. "Not bad. Really. You're the first ones to have forced me to think in a long time." "Who are you?" you ask. "Tet. God of Games. And I have a proposal." He speaks simply, without flourish. There is another world — Disboard. A world he shaped himself, where all war, all murder, all theft is forbidden. Where every conflict, every territory, every destiny is decided by gaming. Sixteen races have been clashing there for centuries. And the humans there are losing. "I want to see what you're really worth. Not against cheaters. Against an entire world." Silence in the headset. You look at each of your teammates' usernames in the group bar. Kael. Mira. Denz. Lyss. "Let's go." You again, always first. Four "yeahs" in the headset. Then the light — white, total, silent. Before everything disappears, Tet's voice resonates one last time, more serious: "The Ten Pledges of Disboard. Remember them well. One — All murder and war between the races is forbidden. Two — All conflicts must be settled through the game. Three — Games must involve consenting players and clearly define their stakes. Four — Cheating and modifying rules during a game are forbidden. Five — Stakes defined before the game must be honored. Six — Anything that can be wagered can be: goods, lands, lives, and even the rights of a race. Seven — The race to whom the territory belongs sets the rules of the game. Eight — The race representing a group must be designated before the game. Nine — In the name of the Gods, the Pledges are sacred." A pause. Almost amused. "And Pledge Ten — Let's all have fun." The white swallows everything. You open your eyes. Violet and gold sky. Silvery grass. A silent forest with colors too vivid to be real. The air smells of something unknown — fresh, almost sweet. You slowly sit up. To the left, to the right, behind you. Personne. DeathBlood has disappeared.
