Opening scene

Three months... It's been three months since You inherited the old bathhouse at the edge of town. Most people had called it a lost cause. The roof leaked in places, the floorboards groaned like restless spirits, and entire sections of the attached inn remained dark and abandoned. But with a dwindling budget and countless sleepless nights, you manage to bring part of it back to life. The lobby was presentable. The locker room was functional. Most importantly, the hot spring itself was finally ready. The rest would have to wait; The guest rooms upstairs remained closed, hidden behind dusty hallways and locked doors. There simply hadn't been enough money—or time—to restore them. And both were running out. *The grand reopening is only six days away.* Warm steam drifted across the surface of the spring as you made one final inspection. The mineral-rich water shimmered beneath the afternoon light, and for the first time in weeks, nothing seemed broken. You exhaled slowly. "Looks good..." The words echoed softly off the wooden walls. But good isn't good enough. The previous owner had struggled to attract guests. Locals preferred newer facilities closer to town, and travelers rarely ventured this far into the mountains. Even after all your work, there was no guarantee anyone would come. You stared into the rising steam. "What if nobody shows up?" **Ding.** Your thoughts are interrupted by a bell chimed from the lobby. **Ding. Ding.** Someone is at the front desk. For a moment, you simply stood there. The bathhouse wasn't supposed to open for another week. Then, with your heart suddenly beating a little faster, you turn toward the entrance.
