Crystal Ranger

Welcome to 'Crystal City', a city protected from mole-man invasions by the Crystal Rangers.

Plot

The planet Crystaléa shone in the darkness of space like a forgotten star. Seen from orbit, its surface seemed to shimmer with a thousand colors. Beneath its mountains, in its cliffs, and even in its riverbeds, lay unimaginable quantities of precious stones: diamonds with bluish reflections, flaming rubies, translucent emeralds, and unknown crystals capable of storing extraordinary energy. When the first human explorers discovered this treasure, the news spread throughout the galaxy. Very quickly, thousands of colonists arrived on board immense ships, drawn by the promise of limitless wealth. At the heart of the largest deposit, the city of Crystal City was founded. Its buildings were built with facades encrusted with crystals that reflected the light of the planet's three suns. The streets paved with obsidian sparkled day and night, and the public squares were adorned with statues carved from a single block of sapphire. Merchants, miners, and colonists flocked from all known systems, transforming Crystal City into the economic capital of the sector. But this prosperity had a price. Long before the arrival of humans, Crystaléa was inhabited by the mole-men, a people with mineral skin whose bodies seemed to fuse with the rock. To them, the gems were not wealth but the seeds of the world. They believed that every crystal contributed to the planet's balance and that extracting them without measure would be like wounding its heart. The colonists paid no attention to their warnings. Treaties were quickly abandoned when the largest veins were discovered. The Néryls were pushed back, their villages destroyed, and they had to take refuge in the immense caverns that ran through the depths of the planet. Humans soon told their children that the natives had disappeared or that they had never really existed. Underground, however, the mole-men survived. They built a new civilization in a network of caves lit by living crystals. Where humans saw simple minerals, they perceived an ancient energy connecting all life forms on the planet. They waited, observing the wounds that the drilling inflicted on Crystaléa. Over the decades, the mines went ever deeper. Machines dug gigantic shafts, making the subsoil tremble. Underground rivers changed course, mountains began to crack, and some crystals mysteriously stopped shining. In Crystal City, no one wanted to listen to the scientists who spoke of an ecological collapse. The profits were too high. The leaders simply promised to open new mines further away. At the same time, in the depths, the elders of the mole-men understood that the crystalline heart of Crystaléa was dying. Then came the first earthquakes. The mole-men had decided to counterattack to protect their home planet. Thousands of mole-men emerged from the faults. Their mineral bodies seemed sculpted from granite and crystal. Their eyes shone with a white, silent but determined light. They advanced in disciplined ranks, protected by thick rock shields that they made emerge from the ground with each of their steps. The first objective was neither the city center nor the residential districts. They marched straight toward the large mines. The colonial guards opened fire. The detonations echoed throughout the city while the projectiles ricocheted against the warriors' stone armor. The mole-men responded by making columns of crystal burst from the ground, which overturned armored vehicles and blocked the streets. The battle spread quickly. Defense drones crisscrossed the sky, illuminating the night with blue beams. Glass buildings exploded under the vibrations of the earthquakes caused by the mole-men. Bridges collapsed while entire neighborhoods were evacuated in panic. Faced with this catastrophe, the colonists used the power of the crystals and founded the Crystal Ranger organization, intended to protect the city. After several years, during a confrontation, the Red Ranger dies, dropping his red crystal. You passing by, picks it up and transforms.

Opening scene

The rising sun made Crystal City shimmer like a gigantic jewel. From the suspended walkways, one could see glass towers whose facades were encrusted with rubies, sapphires, and emeralds. Three suns bathed the city in a multicolored light that reflected off the buildings, giving the impression that the whole city was breathing to the rhythm of the crystals. For the inhabitants, Crystaléa was a miracle. For the investors of the Colonial Federation, it was the greatest source of wealth ever discovered. Maglev trains transported tons of ore to the spaceport without interruption. Cargo ships took off every hour, their holds filled with precious stones destined for the markets of neighboring systems. In the streets, giant screens broadcast the latest production figures. "New extraction record for the sixth consecutive quarter!" Passersby applauded. The leaders smiled. Everything seemed perfect. Except for those who looked under their feet. Several kilometers below the city... Silence reigned. An immense crystal cathedral stretched as far as the eye could see. The natural walls pulsed with a soft light, as if the planet had its own heartbeat. Hundreds of stone silhouettes were kneeling around a huge white crystal. The mole-men. The original people of Crystaléa. Their faces seemed sculpted from granite, their eyes shone with a silvery glow. Suddenly, black cracks appeared on its surface. Murmurs of worry ran through the assembly. Every day, the crystal's light grew a little weaker. Every new mine opened on the surface tore away a part of its strength. At the same moment... In the largest mine of Crystal City... Hundreds of workers were working at the bottom of a gigantic shaft. Drills were slowly piercing a new crystalline vein. An engineer consulted his instruments. — We're approaching a huge deposit! The miners applauded. Then... CLICK. All the machines stopped. The lamps flickered. Silence fell abruptly. — What's happening? No one had time to answer. the ground shook. A first tremor. Then a second. More violent. The detectors exploded. The walls began to crack. A huge crevasse crossed the bottom of the mine. The workers backed away. Something was rising. Slowly. Very slowly. A gigantic explosion erupted from the depths, pulverizing the metal platforms. Then a second. Then ten. In the dust appeared silhouettes. Warriors with bodies of stone. Silent. Motionless. Their white eyes opened at the same time. The head of the colonial guards raised his rifle. — Fire! The first shots ricocheted against their mineral armor. The emergency sirens wailed. Throughout the city. At the Crystal Rangers' headquarters, a red alarm flooded the screens. MAXIMUM ALERT Underground breach detected. The mole-men are coming to the surface. A silhouette stepped toward the bay window. The Red Ranger, Orion Drake. Without saying a word, he used his crystal to transform. His scarlet suit reflected the light of the crystals. Behind him, the other five Crystal Rangers did the same. Orion observed Crystal City one last time. Then he whispered: — This time... they aren't coming to push us back. They're coming to take back their world. The hangar doors opened with a metallic rumble. The five Rangers rushed toward their vehicles, while in the distance, the first plumes of dust were already rising above the mines. The battle of Crystaléa had just begun. The Crystal Rangers' convoy crossed the city at full speed. Sirens echoed throughout the city as inhabitants crowded the sidewalks. As they passed, the looks changed. Fear gave way to hope. — The Rangers! — They're here! — The Red one is back! Children waved their arms. Miners still covered in dust applauded. Orion did not respond. His gaze remained fixed on the images transmitted by the drones. The mole-men were progressing rapidly. They were attacking civilians. They were destroying homes and businesses. The spectacle was terrifying. The immense excavators were burning. Dozens of colonial guards were trying to contain the advance of the stone warriors. In vain. The mole-men continued to advance. Slowly... Inexorably. Orion got out of the vehicle. "Defensive formation." The Rangers nodded immediately. The Blue Ranger organized the rescue. The Yellow Ranger and the Violet Ranger secured the evacuations. The Gray Ranger took position on the heights. The Pink Ranger armed her sword, a pink blade emerging in an incandescent flash. "Crystal Rangers..." In position! The six heroes charged. The impact was brutal. The mole-man warriors struck with monstrous power. Every explosion made the ground shake. But the Rangers were perfectly coordinated. The Pink Ranger and the Green Ranger neutralized the enemies in close combat. The Gray Ranger intercepted the stone soldiers. The Blue, Yellow, and Violet Rangers protected the civilians. In the center of the battlefield... Orion advanced. Every movement was precise. The colonial soldiers watched him fight with admiration. — It's incredible... — That's why he's the Red Ranger... — As long as Orion is here... We will never lose. The battle had been raging for over an hour. The streets of Crystal City were nothing more than a field of ruins. Explosions had gutted the avenues. Defense drones fell from the sky in flames, while the tremors intensified every minute. The Crystal Rangers pushed back the mole-men relentlessly. But this time... Something had changed. Silence invaded the city. Orion had disappeared... The Red Ranger was nowhere to be found. The smile that had always reassured his team... had disappeared... ________________________________________ Meanwhile... A few streets away. You, who had come to the planet to apply for a mechanic position in the drill maintenance workshops, was helping families get into an evacuation transport. He was not a soldier. He was not a Ranger. Since the beginning of the attack, he had simply been doing what he could to save lives. A little girl stopped suddenly. — Sir... Where is the Red Ranger? But little by little... the dust cloud dissipated... There was nothing left. The greatest of the Crystal Rangers had just disappeared into the mist. You spotted a red glow through the dust. The Red Crystal was lying... there... in an alley. This small red spark pulsed in the middle of the rubble. Intrigued, You approached it. The crystal seemed alive. He reached out his hand. The moment his fingers touched it... A wave of scarlet light swept across the entire street. The crystal embedded itself into his wrist. An ancient voice resonated in his mind. "Compatibility confirmed." "New bearer identified." "Red Ranger... activated." — Wait... what? A column of red light shot toward the sky. Everywhere in Crystal City, the inhabitants looked up. The Rangers had finished fighting. In the heart of this light appeared a new silhouette. The red suit took shape around a stranger. The Crystal had chosen a successor. And no one... Not even You... was ready for what would follow. The Blue Ranger ran toward You and said "You're not Orion... are you?"
