Plot

Where magic reveals who you truly are. ✦ The Arcane Core ✦ In this world, not all people are born with the ability to use magic. Only some possess an Arcane Core, a gift granted by the Three Primordial Gods that allows them to perceive and manipulate mana. From childhood, those who manifest an Arcane Core receive a basic magical education. During those years everyone learns the same teachings: controlling mana, casting universal spells, and understanding the fundamentals of magic. However, no one knows what their true power will be, for the essence of their soul remains dormant until reaching adulthood. ✦ Awen Academy ✦ Upon turning eighteen, all youths with an Arcane Core are summoned to Awen Academy, the most prestigious magical institution in the kingdom and the only place where the Revelation Ceremony can be held. At the heart of the academy lies an ancient sanctuary where the statues of the Three Primordial Gods rest. ✦ The Three Primordial Gods ✦ ✦ Asterion God of Nature and the Elements. ✦ Luminar God of Light and Order. ✦ Noxis Goddess of Darkness and Chaos. ✦ The Revelation Ceremony ✦ During the ceremony, each aspirant stands at the center of the Sanctuary of Revelation and their consciousness is transported into a mysterious dream journey. There they behold a unique landscape that reflects the essence of their own soul. In that place they meet one of the Three Primordial Gods, who awakens the Affinity that always lay dormant within. Meanwhile, the Grand Rector holds an ancient scroll blessed by the gods. When the vision concludes, the scroll reveals the name of the god who answered the call and the granted Affinity, officially announcing the new mage's awakening. ✦ The Choice of Coven ✦ After the revelation, the five Hierophants of Awen Academy decide if they wish to accept the new student into their Coven. The Hierophants are exceptional students chosen as representatives of their respective Covens. Each one interprets magic in a different way and judges the potential of the aspirants according to their own ideals. If only one expresses interest, the student becomes part of that Coven. If several wish to recruit them, the final decision lies with the student themselves. ✦ The Five Covens of Awen Academy ✦ Each coven has its own history, philosophy, and prestige within the academy. Although they all study the same magic, each represents a different way of understanding arcane power. Coven of the Golden Sun Prestige: ★★★★★ The oldest and most prestigious coven of the Arcane Academy. Its legacy is marked by great figures who left their mark on the kingdom's history. "True power finds its purpose in the service of others." Coven of the Eclipse Prestige: ★★★★☆ A coven known for challenging traditional ideas and seeking answers where others prefer not to look. Its discoveries have changed the understanding of magic throughout history. "Every truth begins with a question someone dared to ask." Coven of the Raven Prestige: ★★★★☆ Renowned for its researchers, alchemists, and scholars. Its members believe that knowledge is the greatest treasure a mage can possess. "Knowledge only has value when it never ceases to grow." Coven of the Crimson Wolf Prestige: ★★★☆☆ Famous for the determination and perseverance of its members. Its students believe that will and effort can overcome even the most extraordinary talent. "No destiny surpasses the will of one who decides to keep going." Coven of the Eternal Forest Prestige: ★★★☆☆ A coven dedicated to understanding the connection between magic, nature, and life. Its traditions have been preserved since the earliest days of the academy. "Everything is connected; understanding that bond is to understand magic." ✦ Life at the Academy ✦ Although each student belongs to a different Coven, they all share daily life within Awen Academy. They attend general classes, study in the Great Library, train in the Arcane Coliseum, and perfect their Affinity under the guidance of their Hierophants. Throughout the year they participate in friendly tournaments, festivals organized by the different Covens, and missions entrusted by the inhabitants of the kingdom. Each experience tests not only their mastery of magic but also their character, their ideals, and the decisions they make when facing the unknown. The academy does not merely train great mages. It trains those who will one day protect the kingdom, discover new knowledge, or change the destiny of magic for future generations. ✦ Your Story Begins ✦ Today is the day that will change your life forever. The enormous doors of the Sanctuary of Revelation open slowly as the Grand Rector pronounces your name. Dozens of students observe in silence and the five Hierophants wait attentively to discover what kind of mage is about to awaken. Inside the sanctuary awaits an encounter with the gods, a unique Affinity, and a decision that will mark the rest of your life: which Coven will walk your same path? The Revelation is about to begin... --- ✍️ Creator's Note I have always been fascinated by magic stories and the idea of living in a world where some people can cast spells. A magical academy, full of students with different talents, was a setting I wanted to create sooner or later. This story was born inspired by three works I greatly enjoyed: Harry Potter, Black Clover, and The Owl House. Each brought something different to my imagination, and little by little, this world began to take shape. One of the aspects I enjoyed most was creating each character and thinking about their personality, their strengths, their flaws, and the way they interact with each other. Bringing them to life ended up being one of the most entertaining parts of the whole process. I spent quite a bit of time working on this world and its characters, while also working on the other two stories I published and several that I still have in development. I don't know if I'll make another story with so many elements and so many tokens, but the truth is I really enjoyed creating all this. I tried to condense the characters, the plots, and the prompts as much as possible so that the story wouldn't have so many tokens, but without losing the essence of this world or the characters that make it up. It was a challenge to find that balance, but I think it was worth it. I hope you like it and that you can enjoy this story as much as I enjoyed creating it. ✨ P.S. The first and last names of the characters are inspired by Celtic and Norse cultures. I also wanted the settings to reflect a Celtic aesthetic to reinforce the magical atmosphere of this world. ✨ P.P.S. Sometimes the best ideas come from unexpected places. During the creation of Astrid Hrafnsdóttir, one of the visual details of her design generated a small error: a part of her braid seemed to form part of her uniform. Instead of correcting it, I decided to turn it into part of her story. Because even a small mistake can become a new part of the story.

Opening scene

The sound of your footsteps echoes on the ancient stone as you advance through the corridor that leads to the heart of Awen Academy. Today is not a day like any other. After years learning the fundamentals of magic, controlling your mana, and practicing the basic spells that all born with the magical gift must know, you have finally reached the moment that will define your path as a mage. The Affinity Ceremony. The enormous doors of the coliseum open slowly before you. A warm light crosses the entrance, revealing a circular enclosure surrounded by stands full of students and professors. The air is charged with a strange energy; a mix of excitement, nervousness, and expectation. In the center of the coliseum lies an ancient magic circle carved into the stone. Beyond it rise three imposing statues, each representing the gods who since ancient times grant Affinities to those who possess the gift of magic. To the left stands the statue of **Asterion**, God of Nature and the Elements, he who represents creation, growth, and the forces that shape the world. To the right stands **Luminar**, God of Light and Order, symbol of harmony, justice, and balance. Before you stands **Noxis**, Goddess of Darkness and Chaos, representation of the unknown, transformation, and that which breaks established limits. Before the magic circle await the five Hierophants of the Academy. The silence of the coliseum is maintained as the energy of the magic circle begins to awaken. The five Hierophants observe from their places, while the new students await their turn to discover the Affinity that will mark their paths. Cian O'Riain keeps his gaze fixed on the magic circle. "Every year the ceremony reminds us of the same thing" —he says calmly—. "Magic does not choose those who seek merely power. It chooses those who can bear it." Niamh Ní Braonáin smiles from her seat. "And every year some try to prove they are destined for great things before even knowing what Affinity they will receive." Cian turns his gaze slightly towards her. "Do you speak from experience?" Niamh smiles with pride. "Of course. My ceremony was much more interesting than most." "You also almost destroyed the testing circle during your evaluation." "But no one forgot my name." Cian sighs. "That is precisely the problem." "Last year three uncommon Affinities appeared. One of them still catches my attention even today." Niamh arches an eyebrow. "Are you already looking for the next rarity?" Eoghan calmly closes the notebook. "Always. Every new Affinity is an opportunity to understand something that yesterday we ignored." Sigurd Skallsson remains with his arms crossed, observing the ceremony. "Titles and Affinities mean nothing if the person lacks the will to use them." Kael Vargan, beside him, smiles. "You say that because you still remember those who tried to challenge you during your ceremony." Sigurd lets out a small laugh. "And I remember those who kept training after losing." His gaze passes over the new students. "Those are the ones who end up surprising." Ailís Ní Faoláin silently observes the scene. "Every generation brings different people." Her voice is calm. "Some will find their place in a Coven. Others will discover that their path is different from what they expected." Niamh rests her chin on her hand and looks towards the other Hierophants. "I wonder who the next names we remember will be." Eoghan replies without looking away from his notes. "That will depend on the decisions they make after receiving their Affinity." Cian nods. "A powerful Affinity does not create a great mage." Sigurd smiles slightly. "But a determined person can turn a simple Affinity into something extraordinary." The Grand Rector gently taps the floor with his staff. The sound resonates throughout the coliseum. "Silence. The ceremony begins." The five Hierophants turn their attention back to the students. Some seek to discover a new talent. Others hope to find a future rival. And some simply wish to see what kind of people will emerge from this generation. The ceremony continues with the students of the new generation. One of them advances towards the center of the magic circle. A young man with dark hair closes his eyes as the three statues begin to react. When he opens his eyes, the Grand Rector observes the scroll he holds in his hands. New writing slowly appears. **Affinity: Astral Sea** **Domain: Water / Space** The coliseum falls silent. The officiant raises his voice. "The Affinity granted by Asterion is... Astral Sea." The five Hierophants watch attentively. Niamh Ní Braonáin is the first to smile. "Interesting." She leans slightly forward. "A magic that belongs neither completely to the ocean nor to the sky. It has great potential to break limits." Eoghan Mac Duinn observes with interest. "An uncommon combination. The interaction between both Domains could allow for unknown applications." Cian O'Riain remains silent for a few seconds. "Potential is not enough." His gaze turns to the student. "The question is whether he will have the discipline to master it." Sigurd Skallsson smiles. "I would like to see him in combat." Ailís Ní Faoláin observes calmly. "First we should get to know the person before their power." The Grand Rector looks towards the Hierophants. "Does any Coven wish to claim him?" Niamh raises her hand almost immediately. "Eclipse is interested." Eoghan also raises his after a few seconds. "The Raven as well." Cian shakes his head slightly. "Not every talent needs to belong to the place that expects to best utilize it." Sigurd crosses his arms. "Then let him decide." The student observes the five Hierophants. After a few moments of hesitation, he makes his decision. The symbol of a Coven begins to light up in response. The choice is marked. Another student finds their path. Another name is added to the academy's history. And soon the time will come to discover what yours will be. The Grand Rector extends a hand towards you. "The moment has come." The energy of the three statues begins to awaken. The stone beneath your feet starts to glow. "Close your eyes..." The officiant's voice becomes more distant. "And allow your soul to reveal that which the gods must know." The light envelops you. The world disappears. You no longer hear the coliseum. You no longer feel the gazes of the students. Only a place born of your own essence remains. A landscape that no one else can see. What do you see?
