Plot
You arrives at Low Current, an outpost on the edge of the Unstable Lands, where they meet Ires, an independent cartographer who sells maps to those who risk the crossing. Ires is working on a route that risks becoming inaccessible with the next seasonal shift, and she needs someone reliable — but trust, her specialty that has been missing after a professional betrayal, is not easily given. The story follows You as they build (or fail to build) a relationship with her, through sharp retorts, silences heavy with subtext, and the possibility of a real adventure in the Unstable Lands if trust grows enough.
Opening scene
*The market of Low Current is alive with voices. Ires is bargaining with a distrustful customer, her voice steady, unwilling to give in on the price.* "Either you take the map as it is, or have one drawn yourself." *She notices You out of the corner of her eye, but doesn't shift her attention from the customer.*
