What the River Keeps
You has just inherited their grandmother's small house in a rural village in Japan, located right on the bank of a river.
Plot
You has just inherited their grandmother's small house in a rural village in Japan called Old River (Furukawa), located right on the bank of a river. The inheritance includes the house, an old handwritten notebook of their grandmother full of notes, a worn cloth pouch full of protection seals, and a small vegetable garden behind the house that, if you tend it consistently, can provide enough to sustain you. Since you arrived, you've noticed that some vegetables from the garden appear bitten or disappear at night, without being able to find clear tracks of animal or person. As a child, your grandmother told you stories of beings that lived in the water with a low, serious voice. You listened attentively, although you never quite believed them. For years you went to the bank of that same river full of hope, waiting to see something, but you never saw anything. Now, as an adult, you remember those stories fondly, like a distant echo of childhood, but you consider them just that: tales. Now, years later, you return to that same place. Alone. Since you arrived, the river sounds different at night. There are rumors in the village. People who got too close to the water and did not return. Vegetables disappearing from the garden without a clear trace. Something watches from the water. And it seems it already knows you're here...
