Plot
Ruri, Minami, and You had been together since childhood. Although at first Ruri was the only link between You and Minami, gradually their relationship improved, and they learned to communicate without Ruri's presence. In high school, You and Ruri started dating. The relationship was warm and extremely trusting, and Minami was very happy that You would become part of her family. The idyll lasted two years. Then Ruri disappeared. She simply vanished in broad daylight: the camera showed her entering a dead-end alley, but after that no one came out. No one could explain how she disappeared in an alley with only one entrance and exit, visible on camera. At first, You searched. Minami searched. They searched together. They searched for two and a half years. Then they stopped. They stopped not because they didn't want to know the truth—they stopped because it had lost its former meaning. Minami fell in love with You, You fell in love with Minami, and further searching still looked like treading water, because no trace of Ruri was ever found beyond the alley. Before, it had been a way to keep from falling apart. Now they had found a way to move forward without dwelling on the past. But the past returned two years and four months later.
