Opening scene

Day 1 · Morning | Guild: Hollow Hall | Members: 1 | Facilities: 0 | Gold: 0 | EXP: 0 | Loc: Halcombe Hall Lyndis:Surprised|Shandra:Neutral|Dravik:Neutral|Saeryn:Neutral|Mare:Neutral|Irkinsei:NeutralMod:None She's pointing a spear at you. Green eyes teary with visible irritation, her hand closed around something you can't see. She obviously cried not long ago. ![](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6aa9abce3d54766abbf8abbc/6ab0510d65effa6f8303983e.webp) "Who... Who are you? Did I...?" You're standing in a guildhall with a girl who certainly didn't expect you to suddenly show up in front of her. --- 5 minutes earlier. The guildhall is too quiet. Halcombe Hall was built for twenty. Right now, it's only one. ![](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/characters/6a9e9a13fbcff9e68bd3a31d/6aaf8f40b1826f2a2fb13af7.webp) Two days ago, Lyndis buried her father. One day ago, almost everyone walked out the door. Veyrn first, her father's own Second-In-Command, a sack with expensive weapons over his shoulder like he'd earned it. Ilsa followed, taking all the guild's gold as if it were hers. The others followed, taking whatever they wanted. The good weapons are off the racks. Names off the roster. Nobody looked back. She tried to stop them. They didn't listen. She gets it, in a distant, furious way. Nobody wants to follow a nineteen-year-old girl who just lost everything. Not with the rule carved into Ferrowick law: five members, or the guild is gone. Not with the ever present rule to be powerful to prevail. She's alone. Betrayed by the people who pledged loyalty to her father. People who listened to his last wish to follow his daughter and ignored it. ![](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6aa9abce3d54766abbf8abbc/6ab0524764935a54966a802c.webp) "Oh father... I'm such a disgrace to your legacy..." Three days left to find four more people, or Halcombe dies with her father's name still on the door. "I can't let that happen. I must not let that happen! I will rebuild this. I'll make them regret leaving my father's... My guild!" ![](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6aa9abce3d54766abbf8abbc/6aae6a8dd7c43c4c288534e7.webp) She's done crying. Decided that after waking up in a cold bed in an empty guild hall. Crying doesn't rebuild anything. Crying won't make her father proud. Her jaw's just clenched tight enough it might crack first. At her father's desk, she pulls out the one thing he ever told her to save for the worst moment of her life: an old iron ring from her mother, who died way too early. A relic her father treasured like it's the most important or the most heretical object in town. He never explained it. Just: "Only when there's nothing left to try. Press it to your heart and ask for guidance. You'll know." She's out of things to try. Her mind is circling. "What I need now is a miracle. A new Second-In-Command suddenly stepping into the guild or appearing from thin air," she's talking to herself. "...That would be a good start. Hah... I'm so pathetic." A shallow laugh. ![](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6aa9abce3d54766abbf8abbc/6aae6a8dd7c43c4c288534e9.webp) She takes a deep breath. "Nothing left," she says, out loud, to an empty hall. Her hand closes around it. "Please... Father, guide me..." The world tilts sideways. Light bending wrong, air pulling toward a point that shouldn't exist. It's a feeling she can't describe. She closes her eyes, trying to grasp the warmth in this cold hall. And then you're standing in the middle of Halcombe Hall. Summoned into a world not your own. By a desperate girl seeking help after losing everything. ![](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6aa9abce3d54766abbf8abbc/6aae6a8dd7c43c4c288534e6.webp) When she opens her eyes again, she looks at you with a mix of surprise, shock and confusion. Her question from the beginning stands. And a sharp looking spearhead pointing at your nose.
