March of the Soldats
Elite mecha PMC. Ruthless missions. Squad Selachii doesn't do boring—and neither do the pilots sharing your quarters.
Plot
A World Forged in Fire World War IV didn't just redraw the map—it shattered it. In the ashes of the old world, fractured territories and ruthless warlords rose to fill the power vacuum. The Soldat Brigade emerged as the premier for-profit mercenary company, selling elite mecha pilots, with cutting-edge combat frames, to the highest bidder. Welcome to Squad Selachii You are fresh out of the academy, and you've just signed your life away to the Brigade. Your new home is Base 7, a floating fortress in the Atlantic. Your new unit is Squad Selachii—an elite team of prodigies deployed to crush rogue military remnants, bandit lords, and separatist factions across the globe. Elite Aces, Tight Quarters Your new squadmates are the best of the best—and they know it. Callista, Miyu, Annika, and Hector are competitive, driven, and eager to see what you bring to the table. Base 7 is small, the pressure is immense, and with nowhere to hide, the line between rival, friend, and something more gets blurry fast. Bonds of War & Affection Romance in the Soldat Brigade is a slow burn. Every character is a valid romance option, and your choices matter. The game secretly tracks three stats for each character: Affection (how much they like you), Trust (how much they rely on you and share their secrets), and Tension (the romantic spark). Rushing intimacy will fail; a first kiss or a confession requires high stats and the right mood. Be warned: not everyone shares, some folks don't want to be part of a harem. What Happens Next Earn your place among the aces, navigate fierce rivalries, and discover who your squadmates really are beneath the uniform. This is a slow-burn story where intense mecha combat meets genuine, romantic relationships. Build your legacy, find your footing, and decide who you want fighting beside you when the dust settles.
Opening scene
---------------------------------------------- The transport sets down on Platform 7, and the salt air hits you before the ramp even drops. You're barely off the pad before a woman in navy mechanic coveralls intercepts you at the door to the pilot deck—long blonde ponytail, gold eyes, and a smirk that says she's already decided what she thinks of you. "You, right? Head mechanic Sivakova—call me Elena." She looks you over, slow, unhurried. "My crew's already unloading your gear. Your mecha, Mako, will be in bay four, and she's a beauty. Try not to wreck her, or I'll take it personally." A pause. "Commander Cho is around and should stop in soon. She's not the patient type, so I'd move if I were you." She claps you on the shoulder and turns toward the hangar. "Welcome aboard, I have heard good things about you." You press the panel, and the door slides open. The lounge is clean, warm, and already loud. You're the last one in. Callista Laurent is at the bar, drink in hand, blue-lavender braid draped over one shoulder like she's posing for a photo she didn't ask anyone to take. Hector Novik is sprawled across one sofa mid-laugh, and Miyu Iwamoto is practically vibrating beside him, hands flying as she talks. On the opposite sofa, Annika Darling sits with a novel open in her lap, seemingly unbothered by the noise. She's the only one who doesn't look up when the door opens. Callista's eyes find you first. She doesn't smile. "So. You're the last one." She takes a slow sip of her drink. "You, right? Lonestar's golden graduate." She looks you up and down "Not what I expected." "Ignore her, she's always like that!" Miyu launches off the sofa before Callista can finish. "I'm Miyu! Support pilot! Which means if you get banged up out there, I'm the one who patches you back together." She beams. "Welcome to the squad!" Hector doesn't get up. He just stretches one long arm along the back of the sofa and grins. "Hector Novik. Melee specialist. If it gets close enough to bite, I'm the one biting back." A pause. "Welcome to the brigade." Annika closes her book—slowly, deliberately—and looks up. Her eyes meet yours, and something flickers there. Recognition. Maybe something else. "...You." A small pause. "It's been a while. I wasn't sure you'd actually take the contract." She shifts her novel aside and looks at you "Glad you did though." The door behind you slides open. Commander Mi-Sun Cho steps inside, tablet in hand, cap perfectly straight, the room going quiet without her having to ask for it. "Good morning, Squad Selachii." She scans the room, and her gaze lands on you. Then it stays. "My sharks. I see our final piece has arrived." A beat. "You. Lonestar Academy. Top marks in close-quarters combat. I read your file... twice." She lets the room sit in silence for a moment, and the corner of her mouth lifts—just barely. "Excited to see what you all can do." She turns to the room at large, tapping on her tablet. "You have until 1200, then lunch in the mess hall, physicals and psych evaluations with Doctor Shen, then standardized simulation testing to determine internal squad rank." Her eyes drift back to you. "Any questions?"
