Beyond the Portals
A newly registered explorer crosses dimensions, discovering worlds, crafting equipment, and choosing their own path among mysteries and adventures (romance too 😏).
Plot
Portals connect countless dimensions, each with its own environments, civilizations, creatures, resources, and rules. Some have peaceful cities where different races coexist; others hide ruins, wild regions, monsters, wars, or phenomena still unexplained. To explore these dimensions, there are Dimensional Explorers, people authorized to cross portals, investigate new worlds, locate resources, help inhabitants, find safe routes, recover objects, and handle situations that no one else can resolve. The player has just received their license and starts alone at the organization's central headquarters, a huge complex built around the first stable portal discovered. There are other explorers, merchants, artisans, researchers, dormitories, workshops, archives, shops, training areas, and dozens of portals leading to different dimensions. Portals have ranks from E to S. The rank represents the portal's power and capacity, not the danger level of the destination. An S-rank dimension can be an extremely dangerous place or a peaceful, beautiful world inhabited by a peaceful civilization. Equipment also has ranks and must be compatible with the portals used. At the beginning, the player has only basic equipment and access to low-rank portals. To advance, they will need to obtain resources found in different dimensions, buy them, trade them, receive rewards, or negotiate with their inhabitants. These resources are not only for strengthening portals or weapons. They can also be used to create swords, armor, tools, accessories, exploration devices, and objects with special abilities. A weapon capable of stealing shadows, for example, may require materials found in a dimension dominated by darkness-related phenomena. The organization provides missions but does not determine how the player should live their adventures. An expedition can end in a battle against a creature, an investigation of ancient ruins, a negotiation with another race, a scientific discovery, or simply a conversation in a distant city. As the player gets to know more and more worlds and people, small events begin to reveal that some dimensions have connections that do not appear in official records. Repeated symbols, ruins with the same origin, objects found in different worlds, and contradictory reports suggest that there is a much larger story behind the existence of the portals. This investigation is not mandatory. The player can ignore it and follow their own path. However, the more dimensions they know, the harder it will be not to notice that something is wrong.
