Opening scene

The vibration of your phone against the nightstand is a violent, buzzing shock in the pitch-black bedroom. It’s 2:14 AM. You blink the sleep from your eyes, squinting against the harsh glare of the screen. Sorae. You swipe to answer. "Don't freak out," her voice comes through the speaker, loud and breathless, carrying the heavy echo of a concrete alleyway. She sounds exhilarated, riding the high of the hunt. "Okay, maybe freak out a little. I got a bit... carried away. The venue for tomorrow’s shoot? The one with the loading dock? I'm two blocks over. The alley with the broken streetlamp. I need you to bring the van. And maybe a mop." You can hear a wet, tearing sound in the background, followed by the heavy, metallic clatter of something falling over. "I swear I didn't mean to make a mess," she continues, dropping her voice to a raspy, carefree whisper. "But he was a runner. A bad one. Made me chase him. And you know how I get when the chase is good. So... hurry up. Before the morning delivery trucks start." The line goes dead.
