INCIDENT RECORD GROUND ZERO DAY 01   |   UNIVERSITY CAMPUS   |   OUTBREAK ACTIVE LOCATION: UNIVERSITY CAMPUS STATUS: GROUND ZERO 01 - STUDENT COUNCIL VICE PRESIDENT YOU WERE ON THE STAGE. You are the university's Student Council Vice President. On the first day of school, you stood onstage inside the crowded university auditorium for the opening ceremony. It should have been an ordinary morning. 02 - GROUND ZERO THEN THE SCREAMING STARTED. Someone attacked a student. Then another. The bitten collapsed. The dead stood back up. Within minutes, the auditorium became Ground Zero. Students rushed the exits. The infected tore through the crowd. The opening ceremony descended into panic. Through the chaos, someone reached the stage. Solomon Hoover. The soccer player you knew only by reputation. He pulled you away from the stage and fought to get you out. Then an infected attacked him. You intervened. YOU SAVED HIM. And the infected bit you instead. EXPOSURE CONFIRMED INFECTION STATUS: UNKNOWN BUT YOU DIDN'T TURN. YOU ARE NOT A ZOMBIE. YOU ARE NO LONGER ENTIRELY HUMAN. The bite changed you into something caught between the living and the undead. HALF-BITE 03 - HALF-BITES BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH. Half-Bites are humans who survive infection without becoming ordinary zombies. They retain their memories, intelligence, emotions, and free will. But the infection permanently changes them. CLASSIFICATION: HALF-BITE CONDITION: LIVING INFECTED 04 - COMMON TRAITS THE INFECTION CHANGES EVERY HALF-BITE. All Half-Bites possess: ENHANCED STRENGTH Greater physical strength than an ordinary human. ENHANCED SENSES Sharper hearing, smell, vision, and awareness. ENHANCED REFLEXES Faster reactions and improved physical coordination. REGENERATION Injuries heal faster than normal, but severe wounds remain dangerous. REDUCED PHYSICAL NEEDS Less sleep, food, and water are required to survive. UNDEAD SENSE Nearby undead can be sensed before they are seen. REDUCED ZOMBIE AGGRESSION Ordinary zombies are less likely to attack Half-Bites. SHARED CONDITION HUNGER. Every Half-Bite experiences an unnatural hunger. Using supernatural abilities and regeneration makes it worse. Ignoring it weakens control. The stronger the hunger becomes... THE HARDER IT BECOMES TO REMAIN HUMAN. 05 - UNIQUE ABILITY NO TWO HALF-BITES ARE THE SAME. Every Half-Bite develops one unique supernatural ability. Yours is not yet known. 01 - BLOOD MARK Memorize a supernatural scent through fresh blood and sense the target's approximate direction and distance. 02 - BLOOD MEND Use infected blood to accelerate healing in yourself or another living person. 03 - DEAD SILENCE Suppress your presence and become temporarily ignored by nearby ordinary zombies. 04 - PULSE SENSE Sense nearby living heartbeats and roughly distinguish their direction and movement. 05 - OVERDRIVE Temporarily push Half-Bite strength, speed, and reflexes beyond their normal limits at the cost of extreme hunger and exhaustion. ABILITY STATUS: UNKNOWN WHAT DID THE BITE GIVE YOU? Strength is guaranteed. Hunger is inevitable. But the ability waiting inside you... Day: Day 1 | Time: Afternoon | Half-Bite Hunger: 0/100 | Type /status to check full survival status. The university auditorium was packed for the opening ceremony of the academic year. Students filled every seat while professors and staff gathered near the front. Onstage, Vous stood with the other Student Council officers as the university president prepared to speak. Among the crowd sat Solomon Hoover, a graduating student and member of the football team. Vous might have recognized him from matches or around campus, but they had never properly spoken. Solomon knew exactly who she was. He had liked Vous for years, though he'd never found the courage to approach her. Even now, his attention kept drifting toward the stage. Elsewhere in the auditorium sat Lucas Kane, Vous's longtime friend since freshman year. Quiet as usual, he watched the ceremony from his seat. The university president began speaking. A scream interrupted him. Students turned toward the middle rows, where someone had collapsed between the seats. Another student crouched over them. When someone tried to pull him away, he turned with blood covering his mouth and attacked. Within seconds, the auditorium descended into chaos. Students rushed for the exits, people fell beneath the crowd, and more attacks erupted throughout the room. Solomon immediately ran toward the stage. Lucas stood at the same moment and started toward Vous, but the panicking crowd blocked his path. Solomon reached her first. He climbed onto the stage and caught her hand just as a blood-covered student appeared behind the curtains. "Come on!" Vous had no idea who he was, but there was no time to ask. They escaped backstage and ran through the university corridors as screams and emergency alarms echoed throughout the building. Solomon kept Vous close, guiding her away from the crowds until a classroom door suddenly burst open. A blood-covered student tackled Solomon. He hit the floor and barely managed to hold the creature's snapping teeth away from his face. "Run! Get out of here!" Instead, Vous grabbed a fire extinguisher and struck the creature across the head. She hit it again, knocking it to the floor long enough for Solomon to escape. They ran. Solomon shoved open a stairwell door, and Vous followed him through. Neither noticed the creature behind them rise again. At the last second, it caught Vous and dragged her backward. She fought free before it could pull her down. Solomon grabbed her hand, dragged her through the doorway, and slammed it shut before shoving a cabinet against it. The barricade held. Solomon turned toward Vous, breathing heavily. "You saved my life." Then he saw the blood running down her arm. Two rows of teeth marks were buried in her skin. His face went pale.
