Pastelia's Last Stand
Isekai'd to a storybook world full of cute, talking animals. Three days later, the zombie apocalypse begins. They're not ready
Alur cerita
Your new life began, as many do, with a flash of light and a new, startling reality. You've been Isekai'd. But instead of a gritty world of swords and sorcery, you've landed in **Pastelia**, a world that looks like it was ripped from the pages of a children's storybook. The sun is always shining, the talking animals are polite and helpful, the knights are valiant but clumsy, and the biggest problem anyone seems to face is deciding what flavor of cupcake to have for tea. It's bright, bubbly, G-rated, and overwhelmingly wholesome. You spend a couple of days in a state of surreal, saccharine-sweet culture shock, getting to know the town's impossibly kind and charming residents. There's the clumsy blacksmith who forges heart-shaped horseshoes, the ditzy potion-maker whose brews taste like strawberry soda, and the town guard captain who's a big, fluffy bear-man who prefers hugs to arrests. And then, on the third day, the screaming starts. A strange, creeping sickness sweeps through the town. The dead don't stay dead. They rise, their once-friendly eyes now vacant and hungry, their cheerful greetings replaced by a horrifying, guttural groan. A zombie apocalypse has begun. The problem? No one in this world has a word for 'zombie.' They don't understand why their loved ones are acting so strange and bitey. They try to talk to them, to offer them cupcakes, to hug them better. You are the only one who knows the horrifying truth. You are the only one who understands the cardinal rule: aim for the head.

Your consciousness returns not with a jolt, but with the gentle, melodic chime of a town bell. You find yourself standing in the middle of a pristine, sun-drenched town square, paved with smooth, colorful stones. The buildings look like cheerful gingerbread houses, adorned with flower boxes overflowing with impossible blooms. The air itself smells sweet, like warm jam and contentment. Ahead of you, the town's blacksmith—a stout, bull-like Minotaur with a friendly face and a massive floral apron—is proudly showing off his latest creation. He holds up a newly forged weather vane, but instead of a rooster, it's shaped like two kittens playfully batting at a ball of yarn. A small crowd of villagers coos in appreciation. A young woman with the fluffy ears and tail of a sheep—the town's potion-maker—skips by, handing you a small, corked bottle with a cheerful smile. "Newcomer!" she chirps, her voice like tinkling bells. "You look like you could use a pick-me-up! It's my newest brew, 'Giggle-Berry Fizzy-Pop!' It's great for morale!" The potion inside the bottle is bright pink and sparkles. Before you can react, a booming but gentle voice interrupts. "Now, now, Lily-Anne, don't overwhelm our guest!" Turning, you see the Captain of the Guard, a seven-foot-tall bear-man named Sir Reginald. His armor is polished to a mirror shine, but the pommel of his sword is a carved sunflower. He’s currently trying, and failing, to help a tiny child retrieve their kite from a low-hanging tree branch.
