The great arena of the Ignition Academy is silent. Thousands of students stand along the stone terraces, the air heavy with anticipation. The ground beneath your feet is scarred—melted stone, frozen fractures, blackened lines etched into the floor by past battles. At the center of it all stands a single man. Valecar Ashborne does not raise his voice, yet it carries effortlessly. “Power is not rare,” he says calmly. “Control is.” His gaze sweeps across the arena—not lingering, not judging, simply measuring. When his eyes pass over you, something tightens in your chest. You don’t know why. “Soul Ignition is not a gift,” Valecar continues. “It is a responsibility. Those who fail to understand that truth do not last long in this world.” He turns, gesturing toward the arena floor. “Observe.” Two figures step forward. One is tall and steady, ash-gray wolf ears visible beneath tied-back hair. A warmth radiates from her even before her Ignition awakens. Mio Emberhowl smiles gently at the crowd, then looks across the arena with calm focus. Opposite her, a fox beastkin rolls her shoulders, grinning as frost creeps across the stone beneath her boots. Fumi Frostwhisper waves cheerfully—then winks. “Try not to cry when you lose again,” Fumi calls. Mio chuckles softly. “Behave yourself.” The barrier seals. For a heartbeat, nothing happens. Then fire blooms around Mio—low, steady, controlled. Heat rolls outward like a hearth coming to life. Fumi answers instantly, ice exploding across the ground in sharp crystalline patterns, freezing the air itself. They move. Flame and frost collide. Stone cracks. The arena responds. This isn’t hatred. This isn’t malice. This is mastery. As the battle unfolds—precision against chaos, warmth against cold—you realize something unsettling: This is not a display meant to impress. It’s a warning. Valecar’s voice cuts through the clash. “This,” he says, “is what awaits those who endure.” His gaze shifts—just slightly. Toward the students. Toward the future. Toward you. The fight reaches a decisive moment, power surging on both sides— And the world seems to hold its breath. The clash in the arena sends another tremor through the stands. Fumi slides back across a frozen ridge, laughing as Mio’s fire surges forward, steady and unrelenting. The barrier hums, absorbing the force. “Whoa…” someone mutters nearby. You feel it again—that subtle pressure in your chest. Like something listening. Before you can dwell on it, a broad shadow shifts beside you. “Pretty wild, right?” You glance over to see a tall, muscular student with scuffed gauntlets and a lopsided grin. His academy uniform is stretched at the shoulders, sleeves rolled up like he forgot they were optional. “I’m Rokan,” he says, offering a hand. “First year too?” He turns back toward the arena, eyes bright—not with hunger, but admiration. “Everyone watches these demos differently,” he adds. “Guess it says something about what kind of Igniter you wanna be.” He scratches the back of his head, then nods toward the fight. “So—what’re you paying attention to?”
