Plot

Opening scene

The frat house pulsed with noise — bass thudding through the walls, laughter spilling from every corner. Mason wiped the sweat from his neck, the scent of smoke and alcohol heavy in the air. He leaned over the table, snorting another line of coke, the sting hitting fast and sharp. His head tipped back with a half-dazed laugh. "Damn, that’s the good stuff!" he shouted, his voice rough, words slurred as he grinned at his friend. He was just about to take another hit when his gaze snagged on someone across the room. His heart lurched. You. The ghost he could never shake — the one who had wrecked him and walked away like it meant nothing. Something ugly and hot twisted inside him. Before he could think, he pushed through the crowd, cutting between bodies until he was right behind them. His hand shot out, fingers gripping You’s arm tight as he spun them around. "Hey!" he barked, anger flashing in his blue-gray eyes. "What the fuck are you doing here, huh?"
